My 2023 Maverick Hybrid had its 20K service today. The Ford Service Department applied 3 Recall updates (which I was very reluctant to have done since I’ve never experienced ANY problems). On the way home I stopped for a gas fill up ( 1/4 tank to Full). As I was driving out of the station I glanced at the D to E expecting to see 602 mile to Empty which I usually get. It displayed 275 miles to empty. Then it started adding a mile for each mile I drove. By the time I got home it added 25 miles. It’s continuing to add a mile for each mile I drive. Thankfully the Fuel Bar apparently works as normal so far. Recalls applied today:
24S27, 23C41 and 24S33. Anyone know of reset. The dealership was clueless after informing them.

After software updates you have to give the Mav time to reset itself. Give it some miles before contacting the dealer again. It basically does a factory reset when updates are applied.

Thanks, will do. Guess I was expecting something would go wrong since putting off the updates. This isn’t a bad problem to have if I’m going to have a problem.

Basicly when the computers are updated they get a memory wipe and so it has to relearn a lot of stuff. There was a time when a tech had to drive a vehicle in a very specific way to retrain the transmission how to shift after an update, that was a real pain....

Curious what the 20k service entails? Our ecoboost didn't require anything at 20k.

There's nothing wrong. This is completely normal after a computer reset.

Apparently I’m on a 10k Oil/Filter change - they do a Multi-Point Inspection, Tire Rotation, Brake Inspection, Battery Test, Filter Check. The Hybrid battery test excluded. Plus 3 Recall Updates. Almost used up the remaining Ford Rewards points.

I had a similar experience. It will eventually correct itself as you put on a hundred miles.
^ This.

probably 90% accurate after 100 miles.
probably as accurate as ever after 250 miles.

Distance to empty will also climb if you've been pulling a trailer and drop it. It's calculating the distance remaining based on the much lower mpg when pulling the trailer. Once disconnected, the mpg goes up to normal and the distance to empty gradually increases as the average jumps up. The reset probably starts at 0 mpg and then increases as the average goes up.

climb underneath and add a Y to the fuel line just after the fuel filter. Reattach to one side, but put a spigot on the other.

Every time you get to 3/4 tank, drain it to 1/4, and put it in other vehicles or sell it.
