I need a new windshield for my 2022 Lariat, and was quoted $900 for it by a local glass shop. Not sure if it’s aftermarket or OE quality. Do you mind sharing what the OE windshield with all the bells and whistles should cost?
Disregard … just saw the cost info above … thanks

there is a defrost icon on the glass in the lower driver's side if you have the 22-23 lariat lux oem windshield.

I know for sure because I had it, then had a 3rd party replacement without it (Fuyao), and 2 weeks ago I have windshield #3 which is an OEM unit with the 'soundscreen' logo in the lower passenger side and the defrost icon I mentioned above on the driver's side.

like NJBob, I also have no specific feedback as to whether it works. why? I rarely park outdoors and have snowfall on it. and then, even if you do, if you start the truck with Fordpass and have the climate set to auto, the regular defroster will definitely clear the lower windshield where the heating element is located.

I personally think they removed this feature for MY24 because it didn't make a difference.
I'll have to check for that icon whenever I get my truck back. I remember seeing the acoustic logo or whatever on the new one, but never checked for a defrost one. We never get snow in Florida, but do get ice once or twice a year.

I had my lariat windshield replaced few months ago. It was $365 at a local glass shop. Heated and acoustic as well. That’s for a PGW, just putting out for the information to be available.

I'm sure prices vary based on location. Here was my receipt from Safelite in 2022.
The "Ford" Lariat Windshield alone, before labor, is around $450-$580 looking online.
I only had to pay the State Farm $100 glass deductible.

I don't think the windshield was ever heated. The wipers had de-icers on them for 22 and 23.

Edit: Nevermind. I assumed the heaters were in the wiper element, but I guess it is at the base of the windshield. Hope they put that back in when they replaced mine.
You can see a really fine wire in the windshield near the bottom running across the windshield. I believe it comes on at same time as os mirror heaters.

When I drove back to my home in Florida from Buffalo, NY, I was caught in a lake effect wind and thunderstorm along the Thruway (90). I made it home and noticed my windshield was pitted from blowing sand, some hail, and other stuff. Luckily, my paint wasn’t affected.
I filed a claim with my insurance company, Allstate, and just had my windshield replaced this morning at Safelite.
A few things I didn’t know about my Maverick:
1. The windshield is heated and so are the side mirrors.
2. The windshield has a solar panel in it.
3. There’s a camera in it above the rear view mirror in that panel.

I never knew I had those things included.
I did not know about the heated glass or mirrors or the solar panel but I do know bout the camera. I have a 23 Lariat EB. I see where is says soundscreen (I doubt that works much) but I don't see anything about heated and didnot know the mirrors were.

That is interesting Fuyao out of Ohio
also supply's Ford with OEM glass.
Who knew.
Keep in mind that being an "OEM glass supplier" could mean they make a mirror for a certain model or something like that. Carlex is who makes Ford's windshields.

23 Lariat EB with Lux package. Windshield logo: Check

Heated Mirror/Windshield Icon Explanation in Manual: Check

Heated Mirror/Windshield switch on dash: Check

48 degrees outside temp: Mirrors heat up instantly. No discernable heat on windshield.

Manual does not mention heated windshield coming on at any particular temperature. I am curious as to where people got that info.

Note that the icon shone in the manual is not the same as the icon on the Climate Control dash

Strange that the heated steering wheel button is positioned where it is.

Does your local glass shop offer a lifetime warranty on the glass that was replaced as long as you own your vehicle?
Did you pay out of pocket or did your insurance pay?
I have Allstate, and it was extremely easy to file a glass claim on their website.
I live in Florida, so there’s not a deductible for glass coverage. Allstate paid Safelite directly.
