Windshield Replacement ‘24 Hybrid Lariat

Bought new a year and a half ago, currently has 12,000.

Came out of work one day to this crack emanating from a small chip.

Live in Florida, so windshield replacements are on the insurance company.

Told factory OEM replacements estimated to be 6 to 8 weeks out. Aftermarket units can be had faster.

Wanted the Ford, OEM, Lariat, factory acoustic deadening option but concerned the design/manufacturing of these are problematic having noticed early on how easily prone they are to chipping.

Does anyone have experience with a specific aftermarket option that are less likely to chip/crack?

I'm having a protective film installed on mine to prevent that. The windshields on these trucks are really upright vs my other cars, I've never seen so many bugs stuck on there so I'm guessing it's also a rock magnet

I had my ‘24 Lariat windshield replaced a month ago by Safelite. They first ordered a third party glass, I said no I want an OEM with a Ford stamp on the glass and acoustic glass printed on it. I have full glass coverage on my insurance so there was no charge for parts and labor. The installer that I went to was excellent. I was there in the shop the whole time watching the glue/sealer applied etc. Then he drove the truck to calibrate the camera for lane assist/centering. When selling or trading in the Mav without the OEM markings they will think the truck was in an accident and adjust the value accordingly

I also only waited 2 weeks for the Ford OEM windshield to be delivered to my Safelite installer.

What is the cost of you don’t have glass coverage? I’m good now but planning for the inevitable..

If you have an early Lariat, with the Lux package, make sure the replacement windshield has the wiper heater emblem in the lower drivers side corner. The later windshields don't have the wiper heaters on them.

I had the same experience with safelite, extremely pleased, I told my insurance company I only wanted the ford factory acoustic windshield, no problem, replaced with exact same as factory, no additional wait time, my appointment was 2 days after I called my insurance company

Next renewal cycle your insurance will go up because you made a glass claim
nothing is no charge ever

My insurance rate is locked for 3 years unless I make a change to it. For example my address changed, new rate, traded 1 vehicle for the Maverick, rate for other vehicle went up to the new rates. What you goin to do?

If you make a claim, (maybe not a windshield claim) they will either raise you, or drop you. I hope you don't have to find out the hard way. Insurance companys are not your friend.

My 2025 lariat windshield cracked in the first month. It is $800+ to replace it, and no one had the thing in stock. I’ve tried to find someone with the older windshield with no sound screen. I don’t really care about that nonsense as long as it works. With the camera. No luck yet.

I suggest everyone gets the full coverage on their windshield if your state doesn’t have the rules already. It is absolutely suspect on these trucks.
