I am getting the mav for myself. I am a girl who has always prefered trucks over sports cars. I dont think a truck has anything to do with gender just all in what someone likes. I think the Maverick will appeal to many women because of the size. But let me tell you I love the hubbies F250 king cab with a 8ft bed. Its a beast and I love driving it.

I think it's a pretty handsome truck, especially from the rear 3/4 angle. The front I'm torn on, I think it could be better but overall I like it. Neutral and not aggressive, compact instead of oversized

My wife when asked what the Maverick looks like describes it as a "girl truck." I'm just curious how many women we have here.

Hummmmmmm. Girls truck. No, I don't think so. For some reason the design did not appeal to my wife. Of course, when it comes to truck design, ascetics are completely subjective. Then, I've always loved trucks.

For years I drove Ford F-150s or F-250s mostly used for work. I purchased several GMC Sierras for my construction staff personnel. Personally over the years I switched from a full Size Dodge to Dakota, Silverado to S-10, another Full Size Dodge to Sonoma SLS, another full size Dodge to Sonoma SS, and a Silverado to Sonoma ZRX. I loved to drive the ZRX because of it being lowered with a beefier driving suspension. I preferred the smaller trucks liking angular design of the early S-10s, S-15s, and Rangers. Later S-10 curvy design kinda sucked but the later Sonomas had a better grill. F-150s of the 70s to mid 90s were great. Ranger design was pretty good throughout their generations. I went away from Ford F-150s when they came out with the curvy design of the late 90s and early 2000s. I enjoyed my 2006 F-150 King Ranch, and particularly liked the masculine design and the interior. It was great for cross country driving from project to project.

When I drove small trucks some of my friends teased me telling me it was a toy. One guy told me the ZRX was a girls truck, but changed his mind when I took him on curvy road drifting through the corners. I've always been attuned to the mini-truck craze liking much of the custom work, not that I would ever chop one up, but perhaps the Maverick will bring it back. I'm sure the number of reservations taken by Ford has gotten the attention of other Truck manufacturers. How they will respond to Ford's success?

When I saw the Maverick design I felt excitement. It has everything I wanted in a small pickup. I love the design from front to back. Plus, it doesn't have the severe rake existing in current mid-size trucks holding their a**es up high for someone to smell. The Maverick has a masculine look with its angular design approach robbing some of the cues of the slightly recessed headlights and taillights of the Raptor. It also picks up some of the design cues of the F-150 like the faux belt-line drop below the side mirrors, plus the headlights. The ascetics of the front clip are much more masculine than the front clips of the current Ranger and current F-150s or Rams. There is only one thing about the Maverick design I would change and that's the faux side vent thingy replacing it with the black badging only. The First Edition's flat black roof and hood graphic is appealing. Too bad it takes buying so much stuff I don't need in a truck to get it. Yet, I'm sensing It might be in the future for el Mio velocity blue XL.

Is the Maverick girly looking? No, just the opposite. The somewhat retro, angular design approach, aggressive front grill, c-clamp headlights, black bumpers, the intaglio arc over the wheel arch, and the use of angled cutoffs at the rear side window corner, black plastic bumpers, rockers, and bed rails rising to the roof, etc., etc, all appeal to men. The 250hp of the 2.0 Ecoboost is a good starting point for more power, urh, urh, urh.

The result is a clean, simple yet functional-looking pickup truck with very traditional proportions. What is more macho than framing the truck in black. Johnny Cash would be proud. Besides, how many girl's autos and trucks have steelies?

Not replying to anyone's particular post. I'm a middle aged ret veteran and cop. If they'll cut enuff off my 22k OTD price, I'll drive a hot pink one with Hello Kitty stickers on the bumper. By the way, I don't even like bumper stickers.

I don't understand this "girl" thing and a truck being a "girl" truck. What's a "boy" truck? The size? Heck then why don't all the boys drive semi truck or a dump truck, or a snow plow truck around town? Is it the sound emitting from the muffler? Is it the decals you attach to your truck Like the peeing kid I see all over? Is it the color? Cant be, because we all have different color vehicles on order. That's just a preference. Please explain this, because I think some of us need to get a dose of what is feminine and what is masculine.

It used to be chef's couldn't be women, but I bet some feel that if a guy does the cooking there must be something wrong with him. I had a neighbor growing up and he did all the cooking. Why because she didn't like to cook--baked wonderful things, but cooking not her thing and he loved to cook.

I know of men that needlepoint, garden, etc. and women that fix cars, build houses, etc. There are some jobs that men and women do better than the other, but a truck? Come on!
