Interested to hear what people think: do you agree with them? other than the ugly new front, what features do you like? Our truck has definitely been the cheapest to run/insure/maintain of all the vehicles we've owned.

Peace

Other than price, size is best feature. What's incredible is that there is only 12" bed length difference between Maverick and F-150 Crew. For my purposes, never needed that marginal extra space.

They'd rather drive a Maverick because they're not actual truck users. Like 99% of us on MTC. Go ask most tradesman if they'd buy a Maverick for serious work and they'll fall over laughing. I know because I did exactly that. I bought my Maverick while building my house, and they did their best to stifle their guffaws.

It's like asking a Naval officer if they'd like to go to battle in a sailboat.

Yea, but you can buy a regular cab F-150 with an 8 foot bed. Not for you, but for literally millions of tradesmen out there.

I read the whole CarBuzz article and agree with most of it.
I've had my Mav for 6 weeks now and so far I really like it. I think it's a great design that provides a lot of value and it's just what most people need in a small utility vehicle. That's why Ford has built over 300,000 so far and the demand still has not been fully met. That's not a record debut for a vehicle but it has to be top 10 all time.
But a traditional body on frame solid rear axle pickup it's not. It simply won't do the the work of a regular 1/2 ton truck. It's great at what it does but it can't be made into something it is not.

I don't think that anyone is suggesting that the Maverick is a drop-in replacement for anyone who truly needs full size pickup capabilities.

There is, however, a huge demographic of people who drive big trucks who don't need a big truck's capabilities. Some of us have figured that out. In time, others likely will as well.

I sold my 1 ton crew cab years ago due to high maintenance insurance and registration costs.
Miss having a regular truck. But, my 2025 Mav XLT Hybrid should be a nice compromise from my SUV.

Yes, I know. On the farm, all our trucks are regular cab 8-foot box. That configuration was the standard in the 70's and 80's. The Maverick is not the truck meant for heavy work. I would never consider putting 4,000lbs in the bed of the Maverick, but an F-series will take it.

I have about 160 acres with horses cattle and sheep. Maverick does 98 percent of what I need at half the price tag and twice the fuel economy of a new full sized truck. For the 8 or 10 times a year that I need to pull a stock trailer my SO has a Silverado. Otherwise, I could buy both the maverick and a well used but still reloable full size and still be money ahead overall.
