Hybrid/std cv has 3 way dogbone slider with 3 needle bearing filled sliders for the axle plunge side of the axle (inboard).

The tremor has a 10 ball caged slider for the plunge side , no needle bearings to fail under torsional loads .

This also provides a lot more constant contact area on the load transferred while at a larger angle.

On the outboard side the balls are also larger along with the whole joint thickness.

Probably have to i cloud link the amount of pics i got.

Thanks for sharing this. Now we have verification that our Tremors do in fact have different and stronger CV joints on the axles. Tremor axles are also a larger diameter between the inboard and outboard joints.

However, if I'm correct the actual splines on the ends of the shaft are the same. If that's the case then non Tremor owners worried about CV axle longevity can swap in the improved Tremor version.

Dimensionally, are these interchangeable?

I am unsure of these bronco sport ones you have listed , that would require some one to purchase and compare.
The 2 i compared are a ford part numbered hybrid ( with different inner shaft ends) and a tremor)
Now comparing the actual joint construction of a standard with a tremor , the lengths and splines are the same .
And the joint construction ( 3 way divot style slider ) are same between a hybrid and standard ecoboost front.
The beauty part is we are talking oem tremors are $405 for the front pair out the door at your dealer .
Maybe $160-180 more than oem standard ecoboost axles.
Now they still all have cheap grease and plastic style cheap boots on them still .
So have to keep an eye on them .
I am searching for a better boot solution and would recommend the good belray grease for repacking.

For the standard ecoboost , it appears so .
Hybrids have a different length and different trans input .
Now im not guaranteeing same mpg as some of the lower mpg of the tremor may correlate to additional drivetrain friction of the beefier( mass) joints and lack of the needle bearings lighter resistance compared to the 10 large balls of friction with the cage .
However i would ponder to say its in the 1 mpg or less area.
But for a manufacturer who sells 100’s of thousands of units it makes sense to use it so more f150/250’s can be sold as cafe averages rise higher with the better mpg unit diluting the overall fleet sold average.

Now it makes me wonder if the 25 Hybrid AWD 4k will have the beefier CV's. Those may be a direct swap for us with the standard 2K Hybrids.

Or @Ford Motor Company can own up to the shortcomings with the pre-facelift hybrid mavs and issue a program for us to have them replaced because clearly they are not up to standard.

If Ford gets the vendor to create a new 8 ball version for the hybrid in the different lengths and transmission ends on them .

I have standard axles on backorder for warrantee work. This is the second set which has gone bad. I'm going to see it they let me upgrade to the Tremor axles and still honor the warrantee. Stay tuned.

Checked with the dealer. They said they have to do exactly what Ford tells them for warrantee work. So I get a standard axle, unless Ford steps in.

If Ford is listening then there may be an opportunity to offer the upgraded axle on warrantee service. It may cut down on the repeat warrantee work for the same problem.

In case you are wondering, my truck is stock and unmodified hybrid 32k. The axles were replaced by the dealer last April under warrantee and I only drive on pavement.

Do most of these axle's start making griding/excessive noises and get somewhat clunky before the seal tears and grease starts leaking ?

Great review.

Since you mentioned boot material not being great - did you notice on the OEM's if the band was actually on tight enough?

I did a steering rack replacement on my Rav4 lately, and the remanufactured one had boot bands not in the recessed grooves - and once slipped in caused the band to be loose. I can't recall if inner where tilt would allow water in, or outer going down. Of course not spinning anyway.

I'm wondering if tighter boot material was causing pulling on not-tight band/boots, making a gap.
Of course material like that would likely rip if it couldn't tug a bit so perhaps a slit for water entry would eventually happen no matter what.
