So I read in this forum that since the hybrid engine doesn't engage as much as the regular engine, you can just go with the recommended intervals which is about 7,500 to 10,000 miles per cycle. But according to this video, because the frequent start/stop and lower than regular operating temperature, it actually hard on the engine, so more frequent oil change is needed.

Thoughts?

I plan on changing the oil at 5,000-mile intervals from now on. Should it be even shorter?

Now that you created a thread - right below yours are the Similar threads dealing with this "issue" of disagreement as to follow the OLM req, or traditional 5K even though the engine likely doesn't have that on it anyway.

And a couple of those threads have the oil analysis reported at the almost 10K showing it was perfectly fine - and they described their typical usage as NOT just highway.
Search "blackstone" also for hybrid reports.

Also - from my record keeping, it appears the OLM is tracking actual engine usage (Lariat trim does afterall), and the recommended change time for my non-towing non-extreme driving style will be right on 5K for engine usage, about 10K for total miles.

I used to respect what that mechanical engineer guy did in the past, but I think that he's lost his touch recently. If you look at his video review of the Hybrid that he bought, you'll see the huge gaps in analysis. The reality is that the Hybrid seems to be especially easy on the oil, and you can easily take it well past the OLM calculation and the oil will be fine. If you're unsure, get a lab to test the used oil just to ease your mind.

I had a C-Max hybrid, same engine and I ran only fully synthetic oil and did my changes anywhere from 7500 to 10000. I just traded it in at 87000 miles and the engine was running as good as new.

Follow the oil life indicator. Synthetic oil is fairly capable.

Posted a threat a few minutes ago

So I just recently did my second oil change . The first one was on 5/3 with 1438 miles second was on 10/17 with 6466 miles . The oil life was at 54% on the second one .I also rotated my tires .
So far problem, free👍 I normally read this form daily so you know I’m always looking for something to go wrong lol

Once a year or every 10K miles. If it looks bad or smells change it sooner.
