I knew Ford Mobile Service was a thing and even received an e-mail from my most convenient Ford dealer letting you know they have it. I have tried twice in the last few days to set an appointment as I need the 20000 mile service. I called left a message both times. First time I never received a call back so two days later I call around 9:00am. At around 2:30 I get a call back. I ask for a mobile service as I need my 20,000 and he tells me they don't do maintenance. You have to come in for that but that they can take care of my recalls.

My question is does anyone know which services can be done with mobile service? I know I have seen people on here who have received oil changes this way so I am just wondering if there are set services that can be done?

I use to go to this dealer when I had an F150 about 12 years ago and didn't like it then but it is more convenient for being on my way to work etc than the one that is closer to me but I will likely try the one closer to home next time.

Anything they can do with equipment that can fit into an E-Transit van should be able to be done via mobile service. So.....quite a bit. If it doesn't need a literal vehicle lift (can be done with a couple jacks/jackstands) then it should be able to be done via Mobile service.

"Our technicians can perform a lot of the same services remotely that we do in the dealership. From oil and filter changes to brakes, batteries, tire rotation, and more, our professionals will do their thing. And free you up to do yours. That’s ownership built around you. "

"Ford Mobile Service covers routine maintenance, including:
  • Oil and Filter Change
  • Brake Services
  • Batteries
  • Tire Rotation
  • Wipers
  • Fluids
  • Filters
  • Lamps and Bulbs
  • Diagnostic Scanning
  • Software Updates
  • Accessories Installation
  • Powertrain Systems Analysis (PSA)
  • Recalls
Please contact your dealer for details as services may vary."

It all depends on what the dealership offers..... It is up to each dealership as to which (if any) mobile services they will offer.
Obviously, some repairs cannot be completed outside of the repair shop.

Transit vans are used for mobile service....dealerships that have those will be able to do maintenance and light repair.

There is also an option for dealers to use Escapes for mobile repair. In those cases, dealers will likely only be offering mobile repair for simple recalls.

Could be that they are short handed on techs. Almost every dealer or garage you go to has help wanted signs out for qualified techs. Young people don't want to learn a trade anymore, much less one that sometimes requires hard, dirty work and that creates a shortage of labor.

Yeah he specifically said they don't do maintenance so I guess that answers that question. Disappointment is a regular thing with this dealership....

I was talking to the remote tech who came and did a recall. He had replaced a wiper motor before he came to me. Said that he was tech for different make of car for years and got tired of being the replace/repair broken ice/trans tech never getting to talk to anyone, etc. Switched to Ford and worked at front appointment scheduling. Then asked to be remote tech and took job with a pay cut. Gets paid by hour whether working or not. Jumps into his little car with hatch back runs out and jump starts dead vehicles or whatever diagnosing, etc. Said when he saw complaint for the wiper with delay starting pulled replacement from parts in case he needed and went. Enjoying every minute.
