Hello all,

Hoping someone could point me in a helpful direction. I done did it and messed up the leather on my 24 tremor. I ignorantly followed a leather patch kit guide that recommended using alcohol as a cleaner for the leather seats. I now have a nice dark spot in the leather where the alcohol was applied. Now I know better, but im hoping there's a product that can help restore the darkish grey color that the seats came with. Wishing I had just left the seats alone to begin with as the pinhole that I was trying to fill in was so much less noticeable than the black blob that's now presently in the seat.

Thank you in advance

Update: Replacement seat covers from Ford are around $140 online. Ill be looking into getting a replacement. Mabetts covers are also on the way. Thank you all.

😞 I'm sorry that happened to. As you know by now the seats are a "leather like vinyl"
Why mess around to save a few $$$.
For the best results, you may have to bite the bullet and go to a professional auto upholsterer.

Just by a set of the Mabett seat covers, they fit like they're factory and are high quality. It'll b3 cheaper than trying to repair that, and can be replaced in the future if damaged.

Mix some warm water with a drop or 2 of Dawn dish soap. If that don't work and it really bothers you you can buy a replacement lower seat cover from Ford they're not hard to replace yourself.

Looks like the alcohol reacted to the vinyl and started eating away at it. You can probably order the factory cover from ford, just the section you need not a whole set.

The material used in the Lariat is euphemistically referred to as "pleather". They refer to it as ActiveX and it is really good in wet or damp situations, like when your dog pees, or you have wet swim trunks etc.

You might try using some WD40 in a hidden spot to see what it does to the pleather. Then you could use it all over the seatback to get a uniform color. I don't know what you are going to do regarding the original issue needing a patch.

You may be able to order a new skin for the seatback and then have an auto upholstery shop install it.

I was just going to suggest when I saw your update about replacing the seat bottom cover.
You may be able to save about $40-$50 in shipping if you pick it up at your dealership.
Spend that $40 or $50 by taking it to an upholstery shop and letting them professionally install it.
Whether it's repair or even replacing the seat cover sometimes it's cheaper and better in the long run, to just to let a professional do it.
Good luck.

wondering if OP used an included dye in his leather patch kit and if that was involved.

An auto upholstery shop can fix this - likely without even removing the cover if they do vinyl repair. Worst case they can fit a new cover from Ford. I've even had panels in a seat cover removed and replaced without getting a new cover. The covers are just sewn together.
Also, they are probably far more experienced doing this work than the dealership (who also use vinyl repair specialists).

That is kinda suspect, is that alcohol damage or Taco Bell high heat aftermath ? 😂

On a serious note, I also have heard good things about the Mabett, but if I were you the Ford one seems like a good price, I would live with it till it gets worse then swap it, but I understand how annoying seeing that can be. ( stares at all my paint pen filled chips )
