Yeah I’m the only one of my friends that hasn’t “gotten with the times” and either tossed or sold my CDs. I like the physical aspect of putting a cd in a player and it play from start to finish as a band/artist intended it to be heard. Sure I get the convenience of Apple CarPlay and steaming apps (I have Apple Music myself) and yes I use that too when I want to listen to an album I never bought. Also, trying to find a similar usb style powered cassette player for the handful of cassettes I have.

Been meaning to post this. Back in June I finally decided to try one of these USB CD drive that I’d seen a few positive YouTube reviews on. I have a lot of cds and primarily do the majority of my listening to them in the car. So when I got my Maverick back in February, and knew it wouldn’t be coming with one, but had the 90 days of SiriusXM I decided to enjoy that and then look into a cd drive.
So I purchased this one: https://a.co/d/eLVnaIq and it’s worked great ever since. The only real issue is the adhesive strips don’t stick well to the type of plastic underneath the center control cluster so my dad fashioned a little wedge to keep it from falling and to help the strips stick and since then it’s been great.
Keep those CDs spinning!
I set up a PLEX server at home and ripped 500+ CD’s to it. I can access it by phone and play in the truck.

Hmmmm, I wonder what the odds are of finding a USB 8-Track player…
🤔😂

Good idea and it looks nice. I recently re-assembled my home audio after 10+ years and have enjoyed listening to my old CDs and vinyl. I've found I no longer have any interest in listening to over half of them so that will cut my collection down to a manageable size. I listen to satellite in the truck and when I am walking or working in the yard but it is nice to load up a CD or record at home and listen. I hope to find someplace that will recycle the rest of my CDs and records.

I'll have to remember this when I hopefully get the '25 I ordered. We (and especially my wife and kids) listen to a lot of cds, most of which are audio books that we get from the library. Could rip them, but this would be easier for them to just pop it in and play.

Glenn, I have to ask, are you on this forum via cell phone only?
Yes.
It's exactly the reason I'm able to post so pictures so quickly.
We did have a cheap tablet CHUWI running both Google and some platform of Windows. It stills works but the battery is shot.
The last PC and laptop I had were running long expired Windows Vista.

I agree that would be a lot of effort but I'm shocked that anyone would choose to go without some kind of PC/laptop. A lot of required things in life are a real PITA to do on a smartphone. I need my big screen and full sized keyboard.
I am not a gamer.
I don't watch movie length videos.
I don't do CAD drawings.

When we got rid of the PC and the laptop they were running long expired Windows Vista at the time.

Very cool, very retro - i just tossed my collection of CDs (about 500 of them)
I sold some of mine at a garage sale 10 years ago and tossed the rest. NIN broken and fixed (including the little mini cd, gee weren't those cute) went in the first hour. $2 each, LOL.

Everything I sold and about 1,000 times more I can find anytime on Spotify. On the highest quality setting, I can't distinguish any audio quality deficiencies in home, auto or mobile with good headphones.

What I *really* don't get, however, is vinyl. Very expensive for inconvenience, noise, and distortion. My youngest sister (14 years younger :D ) has a massive vinyl collection.

If it works for you it works. I'd go nuts. If I need to write an email longer then a couple sentences I'm sitting down at my PC. Doing the finances? PC. Shopping for something online? PC. Sure, I can do most things on my phone but it's so much nicer with the big screen and proper keyboard and mouse.

Whether I'm sitting on the couch, in the shed, outside enjoying the cool mornings with a cup of coffee.
I enjoy the convenience of a phone, computer, price scanner, camera, video and audio recorder...etc.
in my pocket.

Just because I only use a phone doesn't mean I sacrifice a keyboard or a mouse.
You just have to think outside the tower.

I've even considered one of these mini PCS.

What kind of adhesive strips are you using. I'm curious if this automotive tape would work without the wedge: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JOVUO0

I check out books on CD from the library and listen to them in my 2004 Sport Trac. I don't know what I'll do when I get my Maverick... soon. What would you recommend? CDs from the library (audiobooks) usually have 6-12 discs. Thanks.

I would recommend what the OP has. I'm also considering it.

If you have a smartphone and a library card, download the Libby app. Thousand of audiobooks for free.
