Please Ford ....put a step on the side of the back bumper

The Maverick needs a step on the side rear bumper for us old folks to get into the truck bed. Look at the Chevy Colorado and copy that.

I'm not sure there's anything substantial of the rear bumper area to support a step and the weight put on it.

I thought the same thing at first, Santa Cruz also has em.
But looking at how low the tailgate sits, not sure if footholds in the bumper would help much.
Best solution is a portable step about 15" high, I have a 2.5'x1' aluminum folding platform I used for field work, long enough that you've got plenty of room when stepping down.
Stepping up is easier than stepping down for me.

It is something that would give you maybe 6-8" max difference on height with the Maverick and it would cause them to a have to use basically a steel bumper which if you look at how massive the rear bumper fascia is you can understand that it isn't something that is in the works for the Maverick.

Nor do I think it should be.

Ranger has it if you want.

I vote for the stepper on the side of the rear bumper, I like the way it looks on the santa cruz.

Every truck I've owned gets a bed step. Makes a HUGE difference. No real option for that in the Mavericks.

But it makes me wonder how we got so far from these models like the step side where practicality won in the design over all else and now we get 7 foot tall trucks with a bed that when you drop the tailgate it only lowers to your chin. Just why?

Bed steps seem like a no brainer for any truck. Vertically challenged or not.

And yea, those GM's with the bumper steps... *chefs kiss. It's perfect. They even adding a cherry on top with the step inside the tailgate. If you paired that with the side opening ones from RAM's all in one package, it would literally be a do it all truck bed. There would be zero room for desire left in step options. Let's make trucks steppable again, k?

But the solution for our Mavericks currently is something like what @fossil already shared, or a hitch step that extends. I saw someone post that one time too. No real great option when compared to mid size/full size bed steps.
