I’m seeing people talk about trans issues and I’m about to pick up a 24 mav hybrid the end of the month. Can I hear some of your thoughts or experiences with dealer warranties or warranties in general? Am I better off elsewhere or should I go with deal at the time of purchase?

All Mavericks have a 3/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. The hybrid has a 5/60,000 powertrain warranty.

I wouldn't start looking at an extended warranty until you get closer to the end of your 3/36,000 b2b.

Get a Ford warranty but don't buy it from the dealer. Buy it from Granger or Flood Ford. Same warranty just MUCH cheaper than buying from the dealer.

I would get one. Doesn't hurt at all. And if at some point you sell the vehicle or trade it it I think you can cancel the policy and get a prorated refund. I know the policy I have you can do that, but not sure about other places.

Go here and fill out some basic info to get pricing. Granger has the best pricing on official Ford extended warranties.

Take what you read on the forum with some skepticism. Have some members had transmission issues? Of course but I don't think it is a wide spread issue with the Maverick.

FWIW most of the trans issues are the EcoBoosts. Not to say that I don't think an ESP is a good idea given some other potential failure points on the Hybrid like the exhaust heat exchanger or powertrain-agnostic items.

Of course you see issues posted on here. When people have problems they often join, just to post what happened to them. There have been a few defective transmissions early on, even on the Hybrid. But the design of the Hybrid eCVT is much much simpler, compared to a conventional transmission with torque converter, clutch and 8 or more gears. Toyota and Ford have been using the eCVT for many many years.

The Hybrid Maverick comes with an 8-year, 100K mile warranty on the Hybrid components. The non-hybrid components have a 3-year 36K warranty. I bought a 100k Ford factory warranty from Granger Ford online, to have coverage on most of the non-hybrid components of the truck for 100K miles, to match the Hybrid warranty.

Granger and Flood Ford have the best deals on Ford factory warranties in the US. The prices will increase for each year that you own the truck. So the the best time to buy may be before your truck has its first birthday. You can use your Ford points to help pay for the warranty, too.

I purchased one when I bought my Mav and financed the extra cost with the vehicle. I do agree to check with Granger or Flood who often times have great deals on Ford's extended warranty plans.

I'll be buying it before my 3/36k is up - the going hourly labor rate at most places is above $100 - consider what it will be in another 2 or 3 years - probably over $150 an hour, which pretty much means any even medium size problem is going to cost you 600 bucks just for labor not to mention the parts. Electrical problems can be a bear to find and fix and are tedious and labor intensive, add to that maybe a messed up BCM and the reprogramming costs needed to get it back on board. I'd go with the premium package but I would cheat a little on the deductible amount, I 'd be good with paying a little more for the deductible while paying a little less for the package.

A word of caution before you purchase. Check with your dealership's service department on their policy regarding these warranty plans. Not all will honor them after the manufacturer's warranty has expired. My dealership does not and they are not required to.

I have the 7/75K warranty and plan to sell the truck at 70K. I will not get much back but think the truck should be worth more

I have the 7/75K warranty and plan to sell the truck at 70K. I will not get much back but think the truck should be worth more to someone knowing it still has some warranty left (there is a 1x transfer allowed). Even if they chose not to xfer, knowing any issue would have been taken care of should be peace of mind. BTW, mileage starts at 0, so waiting doesn't really add anything other than time to decide or shop price.

Are you talking about a Ford warranty? That doesn't make sense.
