One thing to consider is the interface on the tuner. The JB4 has a Bluetooth app for its heads up display, as well as changing tunes. It really is on the fly tuning. It shows rpm, and gear you are in, as well as your tune. No fumbling through with a laptop or using onboard controls.

@Caleb@PandaMotorworks what is your piggyback device, is it a Racechip?

I know you guys do a lot but I'm pretty sure this is something whitelabeled.

We share the same physical hardware as RaceChip does. But the tune inside is all our own data based on our own R&D

Tuners are a risk, but I think you are giving dealers too much credit. They aren't going to investigate unless there is a red flag. It took my local Ford dealer days to figure out the codes my transmission was throwing on my F150. They couldn't replicate what I was telling them and it had thrown multiple codes. Unless you have master techs looking at your particular vehicle they don't have time to mess around looking for evidence. Especially if the warranty issue is not directly related to the tuner.

I recently had Ford's mobile service come to my house for the warranty issue on the blinking light thing. That guy had to stop what he was doing and ask for my Wifi password because he couldnt get his hotspot to work. I don't have the utmost confidence that a dealer is going to figure out such things unless they see my JB4 physically in the engine compartment.
Yes but the dealer doesn’t do the looking. They send initial stats to ford then ford can request more.
Had a buddy that had a gt350 that was tracked. Lost a motor at 23k miles of track use. Ford requested all data. They saw he was tuned. Requested the tuner name and more photos. After all that they covered his motor saying it was not the tune that caused it. So they don’t always deny it but. It gives them a reason.
I do agree the ford local techs don’t know enough so you can get lucky sometimes.

Generally speaking, if someone asks if he/she should do something, don't do it as it shows me issues with one's confidence and decision making. If adding a tune is dependent on whether or not it is detectable, I'd stay away.

your friend was very lucky. a new voodoo 5.2 is 25k just for the engine.

but... devil's advocate.. if the engine let go, couldn't he uninstall his tune before taking it in?

He could but thought they would know anyway. It seemed to be a lack of oiling in a certain area of his engine that had failures stock.

I'm very curious which one you buy, and your opinion after you've used it for awhile. Keep us posted.

Hello all I’m updating on the choice I made, earlier in this I spoke about a tune with no foot print. I chose the panda 15% Hp increase module I’m running premium fuel 93 with a hi flow K&N filter and I LIKE It !!! The truck was fun before I did this but now it’s really fun!! I don’t drag race but it’s nice to have the little xtra bump in performance !!!! so that’s my story. VP
