I literally never claimed it has no effect. I know it has an effect. My friends Subaru has a 3 inch lift (pucks) installed and they got 80k miles on their cv axles instead of probably 150k miles. A 1 inch puck is not going to cause CV axles to last 10k miles. There is something inherently wrong with these Maverick Axles.
Use tremors on the std ecoboost

about $ 405
The boots and grease suck on all of them.
Hybrid needs an equivalent to tremors .
Comparison of tremors to hybrid proken pass side i have too.

For the Tremor with its 1" lift Ford used stronger CV axles.
If your lifting your truck get the Tremor axles they are made to take the extra forces of a lifted truck.
Thank you Bwicka for posting the photos of the axles.

I will say the CV axle thing is one of the main concerns I have moving forward. Like I'm literally losing sleep over it at times because I've never had a car with this issue to my knowledge. Apparently of all the issues to have, it's not too severe is what some people were saying, but it's still not fun to deal with.

With deep sleep issues calming down a bit, this is kinda one of the last major issues on the docket. If Ford addressed it, it would make owning the maverick long term a lot less stressful.

Apparently it's impossible to retrofit the tremor CVs onto the hybrid due to them having different transmissions.

It’s likely something that I’ll upgrade when the crap OEM ones give out.
I'm strongly considering it. But apparently the beefier aftermarket upgrades would be about $1,500-2,000 and who knows if it would hurt something else on the truck or have its own issues.

I will say Ford, you're gonna make millions of mavericks by the time this is all said and done, you're basically just ramping up production and have already made about 300k of them. I'd figure this out so when you do recall them, hoping that you do, you only have to replace 300k units or so, and not a million or more.

This seems to be one of the only common failure points on the maverick. Physically speaking, beyond this, they seem to be holding up well.

On behalf of all maverick owners, please address this. I shouldn't be scared hitting a pothole or speed bump on my nearly brand new "built Ford though" truck. You literally marketed how durable these things were, that was literally one of their main selling points alongside the price and fuel economy. So live up to that.

I have owned multiple front wheel drive vehicles and replaced the CV boots, axles and struts without a problem. You will feel the joints going when they decide to go, stop fretting about it!

If you are losing sleep over it just upgrade with some Termor ones and chill out.

  1. Durable
  2. Efficient
  3. Cheap
Pick...one?

I'm not concerned. You'll get one or two sets replaced via the dealer and by then aftermarket will be out. I bought a $65 lifetime Advance Auto CV for my Volvo 10+ years ago vs the $600 dealer option and haven't had any vibration or other issues.

CV axles just have a hard life. I have had one die in a lower mileage Nissan rogue way before it should. But other times they last the lifetime of the car. Mostly though they seem to be a ware part that you will eventually have to replace like a u-joint or fan belt.

I'd argue the maverick has done a half decent job at being all three. It's more reliable than most affordable cars, but still not flawless. It's cheap, but more expensive than the cheapest new cars, and it's fuel efficient, but not as fuel efficient as like a hybrid sedan.

It really has been a wonderful truck aside from stressing about all the recalls and things like the CV axles. If I didn't like it enough to want to keep it long term, these things wouldn't concern me as much as they do.

Apparently the CV axles are produced by Hyundai/Kia. Just my luck, I sell my Kia to get away from all of those issues, and the one thing failing at significant rates with the maverick is made by them.

I do need to stop stressing, it's a real issue I have. Hard to explain, but whenever I'm invested in a product, I frequent the forums, which means you see issues. My brain loves to tell itself that those negative things are guaranteed to happen to the product I own. Even if in reality, the failure rate of CV axles is probably like a fraction of a percent, and we just hear about it a lot because forums exist to complain.

So the tremor axles will fit on a fx4 ecoboost?

I worked at a Chevrolet Dealer for 22 years. Aftermarket suspension lifts and lowering do in fact cause things to fail prematurely. Talk to an engineer if you don't understand this, but it's probably more like you don't want to understand this and just put the blame on Ford.
Well I had BOTH axels replaced at 11k miles on my totally Stock Hybrid Maverick Lariat. I am at 29600mi now and just bought extended warranty as expect to have them replaced probably twice more before I get to 100K.

I've had a little vibration since basically day one, but very minor and only at a certain RPM around peak torque, maybe 2000-2400. Perhaps I will be in for this repair too.

What makes the ball join unreplaceable? I am am machinist and have replaced lots of unreplaceable parts...
