FYI for adaptive cruise on hybrid

I’m not sure how to put this, but my brake lights don’t always come on when I am in adaptive cruise and the Maverick is regenerating.! (Scenario) So if I’m using the cruise and come up behind a car, that is going slower than me the Maverick slow itself down without using the brakes what I call regenerating the brake light do not come on. They will however come on when I slow down enough to stop. I think this is normal With a hybrid.?

This is normal. Brake lights will only come on when the brakes are applied. If it’s slowing on regen, whether in cruise control or just taking your foot off the gas in normal driving, the brake lights will not be illuminated.

Sounds like a good way to get rear ended in heavy traffic. Im always giving enough room and plenty of time/brake lights to the insane drivers behind me. You almost have drive for them these days.

Perhaps a software update is needed where if regen braking occurs over a certain % (25-40%) the brake lights illuminate. Perhaps when in LOW over 5-20% for stop and go traffic which is good time to put into LOW anyway.

It’s not normal. It’s only normal for the maverick. Almost every other Hybrid or EV that I know of lights the brake lights when regen at a certain deceleration point. This is a terrible flaw with the Mav unfortunately.

It’s not normal for a Hybrid. It is normal for the Maverick. Most hybrids and EV’s light the brake lights when regen and decelerating at a certain level.
Not sure why Ford does not do this. I do not think it’s an expensive issue to solve. So it’s not a cost cutting measure. I don’t believe it’s a difficult problem to solve. I would think it is mainly a software issue. But we all know Ford and software.

Ford has been posting quite a few SW related jobs. The downside is they are all onsite in Michigan and the pay is shit.

On a Ford, this is normal, before selling it, I had a 2013 C-max Energi hybrid, it never illuminated the brake lamps unless I pushed the pedal, on that car, I ran it in "L", and I would apply just enough pressure to the pedal to light the lamps, however I didn't have adaptive cruise on that car.

When using my Rav4 cruise on highways that would hit the small towns and drop by 15-20 mph from 65, I'd just tap down the speed that amount quickly and coast down.
Even though no braking was involved to accomplish, it slowed pretty quickly.
Never a brake light.

When going up a slight incline and no cruise involved, and the speed limit drops say 10 mph or more - I'll just let up on the gas or coast down - being an incline rather quickly.
Never a brake light.

When going down an incline in Arkansas in Rav4 and shifting to lower gear and coasting instead of the constant braking that would have occurred otherwise.
Never a brake light.

Except for the almost 1-pedal driving method using Low gear (not recommended anyway) - I've not experienced the regen on coasting in any modes to be so aggressive that it's worse than what I've already experienced where no brake lights are given either. And I see people doing in ICE cars all the time. Coasting in a truck is just a tad different than an aerodynamic car.

I'd be curious how far into the green regen area are we talking with this slowing by the ACC, since I don't have it.
Is it going down to levels only braking would normally reach?

Now you got me wondering on the assisted emergency stop where it would grab the brakes - would the lights go off since no foot may be on the pedal?
Hmmm - sorta like running at a brick wall and planning to jump and using arms prevent a face plant - hard to get up the nerve to drive into a wall to test the system. Hmmm, only over a certain speed - great...
