I'll try to add to my description of how I did my mirror.
I'm not good with computers or links, so I'll add descriptions. All from Amazon.
I think I spent more on the wire, connectors and fuse taps , than the mirror itself, but I will use the extras on something?

I removed the right pillar cover and ran the wires behind the air bag. No problems with disturbing the bag.
There is a tube that drains the moon roof water that runs down the pillar, I used the small wire ties that came with the mirror to hold the wire in place behind the air bag.
The wire that came with the mirror was too short to reach the fuse panel, I bought 25ft of 18 gauge/2 connector wire from National wire on Amazon. I only used 2 wire because I wired it to only work with the key on, power and ground. Left a bunch of extra, really only need about 6 ft or so.

I used fuse taps from 'Tangyinrd ' on Amazon, micro 2 blade fuse taps.
Tapped into the #3 fuse in the panel behind the passenger side floorboard. Grounded to the nut that holds the fuse panel down.

Thanks to all the people on here that also added their stuff to this thread, I read all the threads on here and used parts from a bunch of different people to put my plan together. Had it all figured out before I started.

They may be fine for years, or maybe not. In a perfect world, they would only cut the insulation and clamp down hard on the conductors inside and seal on both ends. But in reality, they have tolerances and are made to fit a range of wire sizes, and in most cases just poorly made. So you end up with maybe insulation cut through, maybe some strands cut, maybe snapped shut, maybe holding the wire, just a whole lot of maybes. And if exposed to any environmental conditions or vibration, it can all change even with a perfect fit.

If you have a choice, there are better choices. But they do "work."

I agree. I soldered my connection.

The wires from the mfctr came with two red connectors and one ground. I know what to to do with the ground. Which of the two RED wires did you connect to the #3 fuse? Wire 1 or Wire 2, or both?

Thanks. I followed your lead and ran it under the headboard and down the pillar. That was easy, but now I need to know which red connector(s) to use. Thank you!

I wired both positive leads together. Mine is powered on with the key on.

This is an excellent video that you should watch before tapping into the fuse box for your mirror or any other device where you need power.

Pay close attention to which of the two fuse slots controls the Mirror and what to do with the empty slot under two conditions. I will let the video explain the rest.

I installed mine this weekend, made a wire harness to plug into the over head lamp plug. The hardest part was practicing the wire crimping. Odds are that's what I'll do with any future modifications too. Vampire clips just aren't worth the headache you'll eventually get.
Mr. Pibb:

Unfortunately, I pulled the ground wire out of the plug that goes into the overhead light receptacle I do not know how to secure the wire to repair the plug.
I will have to also make a harness to correct my mistake/stupid error.
Can you send me some information on the cable you made? I would need to know where to get the plug and any other information.

If anybody else reading this post can help me on how to fix the wire out of the plug issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...adup1-mirror-wiring-harness.32336/post-668911 This is the post I followed to make mine.

Fixing it in the truck could be a bit difficult. The plug itself has two latches on either side that can be opened giving you access to the pins. You will want to push out the pin that the ground wire came out of. These latch in place and can be a pain to remove on a workbench let alone in the truck. Crimp the ground wire with one of the new pins and you'll need to push it back into the plug.

I installed my homelink mirror recently.
I just do not like those connectors that cut into the wires. I have been a truck mechanic forever(40 plus years), and have seen too many issues with scotch-lock type connectors.
I ran my wires to the fuse panel with a fuse tap, and only had to remove the cover closest to the mirror. I did not remove the cover with the interior lights.
Tucked the wires near the windshield to the right pillar, fastened the wires behind the pillar air bag, and directly to the fuse panel.
Wired up for key on operation only, so no one can break into the truck and open the garage.
Best $31.00 ever spent.
Thanks to everyone here for the heads up on the part from Kia. Took about 3 weeks to get the mirror delivered, gave me time to get the wiring and fuse tap delivered.

Lots of instructions and pictures posted here in the club over the last 2 years or so. Several ways to choose from.... I made a patch cord for the assist camera plug, some use the lights, some wire direct to a fuse.

So first off, watch the post that old_norm posted
To start off with my apologies of my inability to use this form ! But this is what I know
The three wires from the truck you will use out of the five from the lights are black, yellow and purple
The black from the truck goes to the black ground on the mirror
The yellow from the truck goes to the black in the middle of the three wires from the mirror
The purple from the truck goes to the black with white stripes from the mirror
You may have to buy a T tab connection to hook up the ground from the mirror. Also remember to use the t tabs as far away from the connection to the light as possible so you have room to plug it back in to the lights You will need some trim tools and if you have a sunroof definitely makes it easier. Take your time. Watch all the videos on this form . Remember if I can do it, you can do it

I followed this post for my install. I soldered and heat shrink my connections when installing my Kia homelink auto dimming mirror.
