Improved gas mileage??

So I had an extremely unusual thing happen to me. I have a 24 tremor with 17300 miles on it.. Last weekend I towed my camper, before towing at 75 miles an hour. I would get about 26 miles to the gallon. After towing, said camper, same speed, maybe even a little faster, and i'm now averaging about thirty six miles to the gallon.. Has anybody else experienced a mileage increase after towing something???

Are you relying on the display reading or doing your own calculations? My guess is it's the computer calc error after changing driving conditions.

Calculating my own mileage, i've put about a tank and half of gas through it, and it still averages the same on the dash, and within a couple of points on the math on my end

To be honest with you, I'm not really sure I got about 22 to 25 highway before now. I'm getting ten, eleven miles more per gallon, and that's without relying on the dashboard.That's actual calculations

It broke your trip meters.
(Not really, but towing really screws up the "rolling averages")

Add 2-3 mpg more from a mis-fill at the pump, and there you go.

People tend to see what they want to see.

If I drive 500 miles and pump 10 gallons in after, I got 50 MPG, right?

I don't have a tremor, but I get 32.5 hand calcs with 4k tow. Maybe he has some strong winds chasing him.

Tail wind? Kidding aside, that's a significant difference. I'd attribute it to the motor breaking in, but you've got 17+K miles, so I doubt that's it. I'm not much help, but I did want you to know that I read your post with interest.

Motor breaking in at 17,000 miles. LOL

There's no way, so miscalc in here somehow.
