If it makes you happy then you made the right decision. It's your money and you only live once.
Well, within reason. Going $100k into debt for something if it makes you happy may not be the best option. :)

However, since I can easily afford this, it making me happy is another acceptable factor. If it was going to put me in a bind financially, I'd say the "happy" factor would be irrelevant and off the table. Thanks for your thought.

My only question is with regards to your Carvana quote. If you sell it to them now then I can follow the justification. If you have to wait until the arrival of the 25 what if their quote goes down to say 20k due to economy, availability and market conditions? What impact will that have on your decision?

Ultimately I agree with the comment earlier "If it makes you happy then you made the right decision".

It's your money. If you can afford it, then no justification needed.

Personally, I'm happy with Bruce and my plan to run its wheels off (and then buy new wheels and run them off) still stands.

Of course, that goes without saying, a Ferrari SF90 Spider would make me happy but that probably isn't going to happen...I'll settle for a '25 Maverick Lariat Hybrid AWD.

At least your old Maverick is worth something, and just consider it like a lease. Tons of people do 3-year leases, and trading in a car after 3-years is really just a lease with extra steps.

In my case the delta between the Nissan I have and the Maverick I want is about $20K, so I'm definitely still on the fence on whether or not I can swing it and will want to sit in one in person.
I REALLY like the Maverick's feel; it's very comfortable to me. Then again, I've been driving old Rangers for the better part of the last 25 years, so I might not be the best judge of comfort. :ROFLMAO: However, my 81 year old father in law thinks his Maverick is comfortable too.

I'm in my late 50s and drove from NC to Disney and didn't get any kind of discomfort in my back or legs...for what it's worth. But if you're used to an Altima, that may be way more comfortable than a Maverick...I don't know. I will say, I had a 2019 Frontier briefly, and it wasn't significantly better (if at all) than the Maverick.

But as you said, it would probably be a good idea to go sit in a 24 Maverick to see how it feels.

The nice thing is trucks tend to hold value and the Maverick is very popular! Great time to trade up. I'm close to doing the same. I want AWD hybrid and tow package. Need to figure out on color and if I will go XLT or Lariat this time!
Good luck with the decision.

I have 2 coworkers that have white vehicles. One is Oxford White, the other is Space White (or something similar). They always park next to each other, and the Space White one always looks dirty to me. Just sayin'... :ROFLMAO:

I'm not trying to dissuade you or bad mouth space white, it's just what I've noticed when SW is next to another white vehicle. But if you like it, you like it. Variety is the spice of life after all, and not everyone loves bright white like I do. :)
I've seen a F-150 in Space White and the grayish white metallic look I actually like. It doesn't pop like Oxford White but kind of changes colors depending on the light. I liked the Avalanche Gray color they had on the Tremor in '23 and it reminds me of that. The thing I'm always afraid of with white on the Maverick is looking like a plumber or a auto parts delivery guy. 🙂

Yeah, it's a bit of a crap shoot, but there's really no way around it when you're ordering a vehicle that has to be built...unless you own an extra vehicle.

At least with the Carvana quote, I have an idea of where I stand and not just a guesstimate. :)

I like your thinking. I hope to do that with the '25 Maverick.

Putting a Clemson sticker or 2 on it (which I will) will alleviate that. :ROFLMAO:

Use what you saved to buy an extended warrant and put the remainder in a CD.

Years ago I developed a belief: if you have to justify something (to yourself or others), you probably shouldn't do it. Anytime I say that to someone, the knee jerk response is something like, "I don't think that's true" or "Really? why?", or "That's nonsense." But if you think about it, most times it's true.

I've wrestled with "Should I trade my MY22 school bus yellow/orange XLT Hybrid w/ 35k miles on it for a MY25 XLT Hybrid w/ the luxury package. The '25 will cost about $34k out the door, and Carvana said they'd give me $25,400 for my '22. A $7,600 difference. Now for the justification. :)

Since I now buy half as much gas with a hybrid, I've taken $45 every other week for 2 years and sent it to my investment account. It's now worth about $6,000. That money was going to be for when I needed repairs after the warranty, but I can use it for the new truck and reset the bumper to bumper warranty. That means I'll finance an additional $1,600 for 3 years (an extra $50/month). But that might be less with interest rates coming down next month.

Plus, I get a larger screen (which I've been wanting for 2 years), Synch4, a heated steering wheel, and a brand new truck with a 3 year warranty. Lastly, the old adage is "Don't buy the 1st year of a new model, because the reliability (both short & long term) are unpredictable. My Maverick has been great through 35k miles, but what about once it's out of warranty? No telling.

I put all this in writing to see if it all made sense on paper...of course it makes sense in my head. :ROFLMAO: It seems wise (or at least acceptable) financially. It seems good emotionally since I've had a problem with the color (felt like I got duped with the Cyber "Orange") and the screen size since day one. AND the heated steering wheel is the most decadent, senseless amenity that I love (my wife has one).

I almost deleted this, because I've made my decision and placed the order. Putting it in writing solidified it makes sense to me logically. But I'm curious what everyone else thinks about either my belief about justifying something or my thoughts on "trading" a MY22 for a MY25. Maybe your thoughts will help someone else struggling with this dilemma.
The only person you need to satisfy and justify a purchase is yourself. That’s all that matters.

Oh, that part I have covered and have driven a pre-refresh Maverick. Just want to see the updates in person before ordering since for me its such a large delta on trade-in value. I have a feeling I'm going to dig the big 13" screen and new instrument cluster and 360 camera goodies and be worth it.

How much did you pay for the 2022 otd? Any loan left? If carvana/carmax is giving you more or close to what you paid originally, then u can assume you had a free ride for the past 3 years and now you can get a new whip.

My question which has already been raised is why sell to Carvana and give up several thousand dollars? That's working against you on the decision to trade up.

I bought a loaded 23 on the Ford A/Z Plan, and it specs a year later for what I paid. Just ordered a loaded 25 yesterday with the same family discount, and I expect the same resale results. That's what this boils down to, how well does the Maverick hold its value. Pretty well IMO...
