It appears that some of the buttons on the '25 XL FWD model have been moved from the console (by the parking brake), up to the right-hand side of the steering wheel.

A whole lot is missing from the dash too
I can't tell from that picture, even enlarging it is too fuzzy.
Where are the radio buttons?
The heat and air conditioning buttons?

Integrated into the touchscreen.

Kind of looks like it, doesn't it?
Hard pass from me.
Just reaching over while driving to a knob and turning the temperature up or down, along with the fan speed if not using Auto is a whole lot easier than having to go into some freaking touchscreen.

Possible they could have added temp adjustments via steering wheel buttons; my Fusion had that. But at least from what 2025 previews I watched no one really dug that deep into the IC functionality.

Someone on main thread commented the controls mimic a current Sync4 model, can't recall Escape or what.

The buttons are on the screen surround, not on the screen, you might say. So real button.
But the extra controls like speed, vent location, temp - does appear on the screen above the button.

I'm curious if buttons allow multi-press cycle thru though, as I've seen other buttons do on other cars.
Press vent location cycles head, foot, both, repeat.
Press fan cycles between speeds.

AC are now touch controls on the SYNC4. I see some radio controls on the steering wheel, like how it is on the '24, but most likely they've been changed to touch controls too. And it seems the instrument panel display has changed as well?

Ford saved cost by removing those physical controls. Which it seems everyone in the industry has been doing this design cycle. It's widely acknowledged to be inherently unsafe, but it is what it is. Just one of many links on the subject. Some automakers (VW) are already reversing course on touch controls after customers revolted.

Automakers make all kinds of BS FUD about these changes. One of my favorite is "Oh, you can change the temperature with voice commands". Which typically leads to "Rerouting you to Paris".

I was going to comment that voice commands for temperature and such would be cool if they work. Maybe it just takes a little practice/learning. I know when I started using voice commands to call people or do voice to text with my 22 Maverick, it didn't always go well, but now it's considerably better.

Not sure if I'm being better about what I say and how, or the technology got better, or some combination of the two; but I imagine voice commands will be fine for most of us.

And if it ever reroutes you to Paris (or anywhere that's accessible only by water), don't listen to it. Just sayin'...

I don't want to have to look at the display, then figure out what some stupid icon means, then press it 100 times, hoping it does, in fact, adjust the fan. If it's hot as blazes, all I want to do is reach for the fan dial control and crank it to the right, without having to look down at the damned thing.

This touchscreen bullshit and the fugly piece of plastic slapped onto the headlights that looks like some sort of aftermarket eye patch, has killed at least one order for a '25 MY Maverick.

Automakers are typically unethical, so making cars less safe to save a few dollars is the norm as long as they can get away with it. History shows that over and over.

You can see from the closer press images its more spread out than this demo has, so extra buttons compared to this, or just wider buttons?

It appears to be the same icons on current buttons as far as that is concerned.

But yep that ability to have rotary when it's easy is gone. But at least I see the screen just being used to display what you've selected, instead of the light on the button.

It sure appears the press images show room for buttons/dials, plenty of blank space there between screen and USB charges.
