In Kauai Hawaii , the mark up is 8k..
Yeah but you pay the same delivery charge of $1500 as the guy in Laredo, TX. So at the end of the day it's a wash 😆

I'm not paying a penny over MSRP. If they say well, that wasn't a firm order, I'll complain to Ford and the local media (and because of my business I know reporters at every single TV station and the main newspaper). And then if the dealer comes crawling back because of the bad publicity, I'll tell them that if they want me to be happy, they'll need to eat the delivery charge.

When they tell me no, I'll go and buy a used vehicle because by the time it happens in the early part of next year, things will have calmed down.

MSRP. I never paid at MSRP for the cars i bought new (always thousands under with rebates). But i never custom ordered either so i figured i will pay full price.. But my dealer also said if there is any rebates when i finally get vehicle it will apply ..so crossing fingers.

I feel the same way! In fact, I'm feeling some kind of way about paying MSRP! But I want this truck, so I agreed. If they Mark it up $1.00 I will walk and never buy from them again. MSRP is what was agreed upon and signed.
I'd pay the dollar. There is standing on principle, and there is shooting myself in the foot. I have done both many times in my life.

MSRP. That is all I am willing to pay. The motor company did not have to advertise to me, and the third dealership I made a reservation with only had to make a single phone call. I walked into the dealership, sat down and said I want this this and this, it took all of three minutes. I did all the leg work on selling this vehicle, all the research…and in spite of two dealerships ignoring me back in June, I am willing to go with number three, and likely receive my vehicle in June of next year. I have not seen one in person or driven one ever. If the motor company doesn’t want that kind of customer and the dealerships cannot honor an agreement and sale well in advance for MSRP, well, we are seeing the end of Ford I reckon.

i just got my mav today and paid $1700 under msrp. I own a pool service so I've bought multiple trucks from the same spot tho and I used a student rebate.

Wondering if me and my skateboard qualify for that pool service discount? Good on ya for that!

Obviously, adding a markup to a retail order where the price had already been agreed upon would be a big NO from me, but that has nothing to do with the markup itself, my problem is with the deception.

Now, as for paying markup on a dealer stock Mav that I went in to buy off the lot? That's a FAR more complicated question. If I was in an area where most dealerships were marking things up already, and I already planned to buy a Mav but in the interim, I totaled out my daily driver? If the markup was small, I'd absolutely consider paying a small premium so that I could still get the vehicle I wanted instead of settling for something else or Ubering everywhere for 6 months while an order gets delivered.

So, in a perfect world? No way. But since life happens sometimes? I can certainly see a scenario where it'd make sense.

On one sitting on the lot ready to go, the dealer has costs, and a markup is negotiable, and not out of line.
