I’ve never paid MSRP in my life and refuse to pay over. How much is too much to pay above MSRP is up to each individual and what it is worth to them to get that particular vehicle. What I do is irrelevant to what others will do.

Your dealer will not offer 3K over retail on your used vehicle they will more likely offer 4K or more under Carvana, Vroom or Carmax.Well if the dealer is going to pay me 3K over retail on my used vehicle then 3K over MSRP is up to the buyer
Is that agreement for MSRP a "Buyer's Order" with all costs listed with a final agreed price and signed by you and the General/Sales Manager?I agree with others. I ordered a truck with agreement for MSRP. First time I’ll pay MSRP but that’s the reality in today’s market. I walk away if they try to add on and report them to Ford and put them on blast on all local websites. Won’t do any good but will make me feel better.
Isn’t that still a lose money situation?Well if the dealer is going to pay me 3K over retail on my used vehicle then 3K over MSRP is up to the buyer

So if you accept the dealership trade-in value and pay an ADM fee they are sticking it to you both ways.
Example: Dealership offered me $11,750 for trading in my 2015 Honda Fit Ex with 43,800 miles on it.
Carvana paid me $16,523. So dealership's offer was $4,773 under market rate not the 3K over you state.
Very true, dunno what the market is like when it arrives. I got a hybrid on order so think it’s a while out. Been contemplating this since I’ve been hearing locally the mark up was like $5k and was like screw that. My current car runs great so ain’t afraid to walk away. Still sad tho my local dealership is taking advantage of the situation. Guess it comes down to how I like it when I see it in person and how much they want for it...
It sounds as if Carvana did you right. My Honda CR-V was recently totaled by a suicidal deer, so I can no longer wait for my MAV. I was lucky enough to find a new RAV4 hybrid for MSRP and it is set to arrive in about ten days.
I have kept my MAV order, because if the market is still wacky by the time the MAV shows up, and if I really like it, I just might see what Carvana or similar would give me for the RAV4. It's possible I won't take a hit, or at least a very minor one.
..
I agree, except rather than an F-150 I'd say Ranger, Colorado, Tacoma, or Frontier. Maverick is the size of truck I want but I could move up to a Ranger without any regrets. For me. It’s until you get to the price of a reasonably comparable optioned F-150.
Love the size and price but if the price was similar I’d step up to F-150.
I 100% agree. If it is on their lot and they ordered for their inventory then scam people if you can but don't whine when you go out of business. I won't buy it over MSRP that is what Ford says it is worth at the most and that is all I would pay at most. If I am ordering the truck then there is no way I am paying more than what the MSRP is and would hope to get a little reduction for waiting. This is my 2 centsI will not be ok with anything over. Ford wanted me to order this truck. This is the sales model Ford wants to adopt moving forward. I had no choice but to go through a dealer. If I am making a direct order, the paper I sign acknowledging my order should be the price I pay, which in this case was MSRP. Given everything going on today with the market and supply issues, I am ok with paying MSRP.
If a dealer wants to mark up their own stock, I'm sure they'll find a sucker to pay. But marking up a retail order is wrong.
Ordinarily I'll buy a nice used vehicle and pay cash. That's how my F150 was. One owner, impeccable maintenance records from dealer, resold by original dealer. But in todays market I sold it for a grand more than I bought it and bought a new Mav at msrp. This market wont last forever but if one does a little research it's a good time to get in a new car.
That is why I held of on building a garage or really doing anything. Why would I pay way more for something that will go back to normal. The idiots paying for that stuff are putting them self at risk. They are also the people that are making a bad situation worse. Some people just have way to much money that they have to spend it more so when it comes tax time. People selling the cars for a profit or slight lose only work of you have another vehicle to drive till prices die down. I know someone who a had a 3 years old truck with 10k miles on it after trade he only paid $6k for everything. Dealer no doubt listed the price of a new or more then new truck.
If I had to pay that I would just order one.
Bigger trucks like 350 some dealers are offering like $7k off.
