AWD/ 4k worth it?

I wasn't going to buy a Maverick without the ECOboost 2.0 (not the P.O.S. 1.5 dragon base like BS) + AWD + 4K Tow. This is the best possible combination for power, road stability, ride quality, and sure footedness in all driving conditions. Nobody mentioned with AWD you get IRS which has better rear shocks which greatly improves the ride without a load or towing. AWD completely eliminates any feeling of torque steer as well. Whether you end up towing or not, the higher capacity radiator with fan & oil cooler are huge upgrades.

For those who say if you don't "need" it don't pay for it: you never know you need it- until you need it! Life throws changes at us all the time and IMO it's shortsighted NOT to pay the very reasonable $745.00 for everything you get in tow package- especially if $ is not the main object. Lots of people have been on here wishing they would have got the tow package or at least factory hitch because now they are scrambling for wire harnesses, having to add the controller in the cab and pay U-Haul or someone to install the hitch for them too. HUGE waste of time & $ and you still don't get the extra cooling. No brainer on this...

All included my XL with the ECO, AWD + Tow was just under 26k OTD including state sales tax. Total bargain and would not have done it any other way. YMMV

4K is worth it for the trans cooler, 7 pin connector, trailer brake controller, higher capacity radiator and heavy duty cooling fan alone in my opinion but that's only if you need or want AWD. I can accept a promotion and transfer to a snowy climate again and wanted to have AWD since I don't drive much during the week currently. Not sure too many people are seeing a hit to their mileage with 4k.

I make the same trip to see family about 25 weekends a year (400+ miles round trip) and have always seen this kind of mileage (35.2mpg this trip) unless there's a crazy headwind or traffic. This is an XL AWD w/4K and heavier (31lbs) Michelin Defender LTX M&S (235/65R18)

The ecoboost motor makes a ton of low end torque so yeah, it can cruise along at lower revs on the highway just fine. I almost always drive just over the speed limit and this is how I routinely get mid 30s for gas mileage on my ecoboost AWD.

If money is not the issue, go for it. If financed, you will be adding about $5-$10 per month. Have a hard time even buying a burger, fries and drink for the $10, so give up a burger once a month and enjoy the AWD and 4K. LOL.

Yep I agree, very similar results with mpg and don’t have any of the hybrid issues to deal with! Absolutely Live mine
