I just turned 1000 miles and I can’t beat 21 MPG. I have tried; super unleaded, eco mode, A/C on and off, highway driving, local driving, etc.

After 1k miles I feel like I should be seeing a MPG improvement.

Could it be a manufacturing defect that requires a trip to Ford service.

AWD Ecoboost 5 weeks on the road.

I see you're a long time member, have you had your Maverick for a long time also? If you have had it for two years and only have 1000 miles, 21 MPG might not be bad even for a hybrid. Remember, every start cycle has a warm up period of very poor MPG. Lots of start ups and not many miles will yield poor MPG.
Edit: It really depends on the content of those 1000 miles regardless of time. If you drove any long trips, you might have a problem, other wise lots of short trips wait to see if it's better on a trip at legal speeds.

I also have an EcoBoost. I recently got 36.1 MPG on a road trip. I'm not unhappy about that AT ALL! I typically get about 24 - 25, running around town. Happy camper here!

Just got it last month
Maybe fill the tank and go for a 300 mile day trip, refill and calculate the old fashioned way. Could be how the dash monitor is re-setting itself.

Ty..I’ll try that on the next fill up.

Ease up on the acceleration and coast more. Even in my 1st 1000 miles, I didn't see less than 25mpg on the instrument display average. Read up on hyper-miling techniques. Plan trips to use more efficient routes if possible. The Ecoboost AWD has peak efficiency around 50-60mph from my experience. On a long highway trip, if you keep it under 72 with cruise on, you should see something in the 32mpg range or better. Try resetting one of the Trip ODOs after getting on the interstate, while under cruise control. If you don't see better than 30mpg within a few miles, maybe something is wrong.

2024 Lariat, AWD, 4K towing. 28–29 mpg around my rural town. Running 87 octane wherever I find it cheapest

I have 22 Maverick Lariat trim, 4K towing, AWD. With 87 octane, I usually get 22 mpg in town, 29-30 mpg going 75 mph. I have driven my Mav for 2.5 years with 15,000 miles on it.

1,000 miles is the issue. Math + Time = various factors or % squared and fuel economy will go up based on more miles to the @7th rhombus

Same truck as OP. Just over 3600 miles now. Worst MPG: 21.5 , Best MPG: 24.9

Worst was when it was brand new, cold weather, 60/40 city/highway

Best was last week, 85°, 95% highway 70-80 mph. I am not driving in a manner to "save gas". Not drag racing either.

Looks like the reported average for 2.0 Ecoboosts is about 24 MPG, per Fuelly. But they do not differentiate between AWD and FWD versions.

Just for comparison. My 1st tankful was driving from dealer near Houston to home near Dallas. Interstate all the way and set cruise at 65 then 70 then 65 and so on. My on board meter told me I got 28 mpg. I have a 24 FX4, so it sounds the same.

I now have 3000 miles and I did a round trip from my home to Temple, Texas and back on Interstate I35. My meter told me I got 33 mpg cruising at 70.

I am burning the cheapest 87 octane I can find. This information is just for reference.

If any of you are not calculating MPG yourself, the numbers are going to be exaggerated , in a positive direction. My MPGs on the truck's gage always show quite a lot higher number than actual, calculated, MPG = Miles travelled ÷ Gals. of gas to fill tank.
