The Maverick seems perfect for my wife, but I'd end up using it, too--there are a few, not many, of my trips that I can't take a classic for, but not enough to justify two daily drivers. (that, and I'll be the one hauling wood, rocks, and transmissions . . .)

Anyway, I went to try one yesterday, and was rather shocked find that the seat had a single up/down motor, rather than front and rear to control tilt. I've been using that since my '89 Crown Victoria to fit into vehicles--tilting the front up and the back down "absorbs" a couple of inches of leg so that my left thigh can fully rest on the seat, rather than supporting part of its own weight.

So is there an option that has both motors for the seats? It's kind of a dealbreaker, as I can't fully extend that leg at any of the available heights. (I once drove the 350 miles from Las Vegas to San Diego in my Miata--*that* hurt!)

Or is there a warranty compatible way so that I can have the inclination, but it can go back to flat for her?

Edit: I notice that the Escape has a 10-way power seat available. A diagram I found for it clearly labels a rear lift motor. But I haven't been able to find a maverick 10-way on Ford's site.

There is not. Even on $40,000 Mavericks. It's one of the worst parts of the Maverick for me.
Might be able to swap in some seats from the lincolns. Only thing I'm not sure of is the airbags.

Ford seems to believe that small = stripped down sometimes. While the Lariat is pretty well appointed, it's top of the line for the Mav.

Thinking about it, the level control *was* the normal rotatable kind, where I could move the front and rear independently. I was kind of baffled by the seat not doing as I expected.

As for swapping, I'd been thinking of difficulty with controls--but I was being blinded by assumptions coming from memory seats, where the computer has to be wired back to them. But here the controller is right on the seat. I wonder if underpinnings or motors could be swapped, either with parts from a scrapyard, or from the dealer.

Another "I don't know" would be moving the tracks back three or four inches (which is planned as a future project on my '97 Eldorado Touring Coupe).

[If I could insure it for replacement cost rather than current book, and without the limits of classic car insurance, my clear solution would be something older. But by the time you get to "nice" condition, you're at a multiple of what regular insurance will cover.]

That'd be my concern. Things get sketchy once you start swapping seats.

Yup. And it's foolish. I would have paid 4-5k over my Lariat price to get a nicely appointed truck with a better interior than the XL. But they didn't want to do it.

the only thing I DON'T like about my 22 XLT HYB is the lack of driver seat front vertical adjustment

I see you mentioned the Escape.
My wife has a 2016 Escape. The seats are much more comfortable than they are in the Maverick. They are both deeper and wider. They may even have a little better padding.
We won't even talk about how comfortable they are in the crown Vic or the Mercury Marquis.

Now *that* is interesting . . . I'm baffled as to why they're not the same seats. hmm.

but ys, f they were still made, I'd probably skip the truck and get a Fleetwood or a town car. Or a northstar deville . . . (or if my wife shoed her usual lack of discouragement for my car adventures, probably the Fleetwood *and* a truck!

Put some big washers under the front seat mounts.

After reading this forum for almost a year having never test driven a Maverick I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the driver seat is in my Lariat. The seat in my Saturn Vue was way too short. You could adjust it in almost any direction (it was power) but I always felt it was way too short. I could not even hold a coffee between my legs!

I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if that cut it--it's not that the seat doesn't go high enough. It's that I need the tilt to put the bend in my knee so as to take up sack--I can't fully extend my left leg with my foot on the firewall. (and for crying out loud, I'm only 6'2", with short legs for the height!)
