It happened tonight while driving home. I was driving for about 10 minutes at speed of 35mph then noticed unable to accelerate when pressing on the accelerator. The truck was in electric mode at the time. Coasted to a complete stop at a light. Tried pressing on accelerator and nothing happened. I shut the truck down and restart and everything went back to normal. This is the first time it has happened. Got the truck Oct 2022 with 22227 on the odom. Already reported the incident to NHTSA and booked an appointment with a local dealer to check it out this week. I don't think they would know what to do except to document the issue. I will have the recalls done as well even though I don't think the recall fixes will do anything good in this case. Stay tuned.

Hey there. Can you send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage? I would like to look into this acceleration issue on my end.

If you suspect a clueless dealer, make sure they connect an external 12v power source to you truck during the software updates. This may prevent the truck from going into battery saver mode during the updates, which can cause problems.
Also, fully charge the truck's 12v battery the night before you take it in.

Question…not a challenge.
Why fully charge battery prior to bringing truck to dealer?

Update: contacted by a service advisor over the phone and he said it could be transmission related. The transmission would be covered under warranty. However they were unable to provide loaner and would have to keep my truck for several days. He said I would get my own rental and reimbursed by ford. I told him the incident happened in electric mode. I didn’t know hybrid uses transmission. Either way now I’m looking at either finding another dealer with a loaner or rent a car for God knows how long. This sucks.

Nah, doubt it's transmission related.

See my post above.

Why fully charge battery prior to bringing truck to dealer?
If voltage on 12v bus drops to (12.1v?) a certain voltage the computer will start turning off non essential circuits (called load shedding). Fully charged battery will be insurance against dealer not placing steady voltage on bus to maintain adequate voltage during testing. Maybe if doing update voltage drops and something is turned off update when testing might think that option is not installed and not properly complete. I personally put my mavericks on 5amp maintainer about every three months just to help keep battery healthy. Learned on my 2012 Honda crv that would eat a battery in 26-34 months if not done. Today's cars of all makes are hard on batteries. My last battery in my Honda was at 62+ months when I gave it to my granddaughter and saw the maintainer every 3-4 months (usually 4-7 days to let the optimization routines time to complete).

I didn't think so either but I brought it in for them to check it out anyway. Just to document the incident in case I need to sue later. It sucks to not have the truck for a few days while they 'investigate' knowing the outcome will be the same. Nothing major but updating the software.

I have seen many posts on here a few months ago about the hybrids having the same issue you had. Most of them were cured with Fords Recall software updates.

This sounds similar to serious issued due to a faulty/buggy hybrid software recall update that was applied to vehicles a about 4 months ago. A new update/recall was issued that was designed to fix the first (faulty) update.

To see if this was indeed the same issue:
1. Did you have any other recalls done earlier this year? If yes, which one(s)?
2. When your Mav list all power, was it displaying any error/warning messages?
3. When you first came to a stop, did the truck
shift into park?
4. Was the dial shifter’s light flashing?

No to all. The only recall performed was a year ago for the emission issue with the hybrid and the grabby brakes. Other than that the truck ran fine for the 2 years of ownership. I had no warning lights, everything was normal except I couldn't accelerate while pressing down on the gas pedal. Restarted the truck and everything went back to normal. I'm pretty sure it's the software issue but not sure if that is related to all the recalls issued so far.
