My 2024 Hybrid has 3400 miles on it, and just today it stopped going into Electric on the EV Coach. It'll go into regen, then even with soft acceleration right into hybrid. This has never been the case, I've always been able to get up to speed, back off of the gas, and it'll go into Electric mode for a distance. It's currently 115+ here in Vegas, will that cause issues? And yes, I turned the AC off for a bit and it still wouldn't switch into electric mode.

If it's too hot it may not be able to make the switch, just like if it's too cold. Now if it continues that way, even after the temperature drops, you might have a battery issue.

I'm currently in N.Cal.

It was 114°F as I was driving on a freeway and the battery was 122°F per OBDII scanner and truck behaved normally. A-C on at a moderate setting.

Engine water stayed a constant 185°F.
Transmission 155°F

Was hauling over 1000 lbs.

The odd thing is, and I've watched this for 2 years now.... the HV battery seems to only be passively cooled. The battery coolant temperature, wherever that sensor is located, is always at ambient. 65°F on a 65 deg day. And 108°F on a 108 deg day.

Here is a photo of the truck ambient sensor (hard to see from sun angle) followed a moment later is a ScanGauge image reading sensor data from the OBDII port.

P.S. this is normal if you were accidentally in tow/haul mode or sport mode. Easy to be in a different mode and not notice.

I have the MyMavMode installed and it puts it into Eco mode on start up every time. It's not in Low or Sport mode. I just ran to the store and it was in Electric mode leaving the neighborhood, but thereafter always in regen or hybrid.

I'm a Ford guy at heart, but a two month old vehicle should work, this is bullshit!

Absolutely, Sounds like it might be software issue. I'd take it to the dealer.

Either that or the sensor displayed is not actually the battery coolant temp.

I noticed that when really hot outside, it doesn't run in electric only mode for most of my driving. It will sometimes, but not nearly as often as when it was cooler out and I wasn't running a/c. My mpg's are still good though.

Trouble shooting 101 says remove the mod and see if the problem persists. I'm sure it will do nothing but it will eliminate your dealer saying it's the issue.

Correct.

And even with it installed, it is easy to be in the wrong mode and not notice, which is more likely than not to be what happened.

I am in vegas and mine did the same yesterday. It was a record 120 degrees so i just assume its just too hot for it to kick in to electric.

I would agree with what the RealMaverick is saying. Adding or changing things with today's vehicles that are totally dependent on computer operation can lead (not always) to inadvertent issues. Its like changing software in your computer. The first thing the computer does is to try and recognize the new software and then see if any updates need to be downloaded. You can't just add things anymore without something going sideways.

Just try removing the add-on and see if this changes things. It can't hurt trying.

I was in 114°F ambient with internal battery of 122°F and everything seemed normal.

But yes, there has to be an upper limit.
Just not yet heard of what the actual value is. I just know it's above 122°F.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Also I am NOT observing any "freon - air-conditioning" helping the battery. So by "passive" I mean it might be radiator cooling only.

Like keeps it from catching fire, but does not really "chill" the battery like previous models. Or it's a malfunction.

Hmmm.... 🤔
