Another reason not to own a EV

don't blame the truck. Blame the stupid owner who got it stuck.

Stuff happens and I ain't gonna judge but EV's are really heavy which is not ideal for off roading.

And of course as the article states, the battery pack is badly placed. They make skid plates for stuff for a reason. To me, this is the kind of engineering oversight that tells me that they aren't truly ready for prime time. Make the batteries significantly lighter and figure out how to build and protect them so they aren't a fire hazard and we can talk.

There are numerous reasons not to buy or own a EV. Many have been discussed and posted. I read this article and thought, wow never thought of this. Keep in mind the EV has been in the ditch for MONTHS.

Numerous reasons to not own just about anything you don't want to own. This is clearly a darwin award winning owner, regardless of the powertrain of the truck. To think otherwise is to get a darwin award yourself.

That's very true, it can easily be those posting. Not specifically toward your post. Actually it could easily be myself. I never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed.

I just definitely see this is another disadvantage with an EV. Especially in the northern climates which consistently have snow, and icy conditions. Besides the cold zapping the battery, there are a lot of reasons not to buy EV. Hopefully they can get the major issues under control,. If not hopefully hydrogen or some other fuel that can reduce carbon dioxide. Only thing is what about air planes and manufacturing facilities?

I've owned an EV for just over 18 months with right around 8,800 miles(14K KM)under my belt and honestly it's the best vehicle I have ever owned. It's good in the rain and the snow but I admit I have never taken it off roading but it's not that kind of vehicle.

I also admit that there can be draw backs like cold weather but temps here in Central Illinois can get pretty chilly but I've never felt like I can't drive it in the cold. Charging infrastructure is another drawback but that will change with time.

Anyway, @Hunters Edge I'm curious on how much seat time you have behind the wheel of an EV? My guess is not much if any but I could be wrong.
