I goofed and ordered the wrong key fobs from Amazon for my new 2024 Lariat (with remote start). Was unable to program them. Wanna make sure I order the correct ones this time. Most of the listings on Amazon, eBay, etc. list them as being for 2017-2022. A very few mention 2023, none mention 2024. And I'm seeing 2 different Ford part numbers 164-R8182 and 164-R8297 which look identical in the images but I doubt Ford changed the part number just for the heck of it.
So does the 2024 use the same key fobs as the 2017-2022, and 2023, and which one (or either) of those part numbers? They certainly look identical but that doesn't mean they didn't change the RFID chip. (As I learned the hard way with identical looking "smart" keys on my old Ranger)

And on a related note... since it has push-button keyless start, and unlock-on-approach... does someone make a smaller, lighter fob to go into my pocket, without the key and possibly without all the buttons?

You will need the key when the fob battery dies, or when deep sleep happens. The part number can change even if two fobs are identical but they are made by different suppliers.

Best as I can determine... The JB5T-15K601-BB aka 164-R8166 is the 5-button version with the extra tailgate/trunk/frunk button. And the JB5T-15K601-AD aka 164-R8182/164-R8297 is the 4-button version. Then there is the 164-R8325 which also looks identical. And I'm still left wondering which of these will work with a 2024, and not just up to 2022. I cannot find a definitive list of what fobs use which frequencies, transponders, or technologies and which might work with what vehicles. Perhaps a Ford guru here has a list?

Amazon only seems to have the 5-button version and I'm wondering if that 5th button will operate [just the] the tailgate lock on a 2024 Lariat?

I originally/mistakenly ordered a pair of 164-R8130 which is a 3-button version, and apparently is the correct one for Mavericks without remote start(?) When I try to program them I get a "key program failure" message so they would seem not to use the same RFID/transponder chip(s) as my 4-button. Odd that the very similar non-remote-start would be incompatible, I would think all their recent vehicles would use the same system.

Vehicles with remote start have a separate Remote Transceiver Module that receives the fob commands and Intellikey information and passes them via LIN/CAN to the BCM. On non-remote start vehicles the BCM receives and processes directly. The service manual doesn't specify directly, but suggests the latter operates at a higher frequency.

I have been informed by my ford service department and an Amazon fob supplier that Ford has removed the ability to program fobs from mavericks with remote start. Doesn’t matter which fob you buy you are not going to program it with the fob cradle in the truck. The cradle is only good for configuring “MyKey”.

I have a MY24 Lariat Hybrid (remote start) and ordered two of these
I'm gonna try those. They are at least visually an exact match.

No so sure I'd trust the dealer on that...
I'm gonna try the ones that dmopro suggested, that worked for him. If I am unable to program them via the fob cradle, I'll attempt it with ForScan. And actually, I have not returned the incorrect ones yet, mebbee see if I can program those with ForScan.
I will be sure and report back here and mark this "solved" for future reference of other people who may have this problem.

And on a related note... since it has push-button keyless start, and unlock-on-approach... does someone make a smaller, lighter fob to go into my pocket, without the key and possibly without all the buttons?
I ordered a pair of these using my Ford points from the purchase of the truck. Ford website claims they are compatible.

Update: I was never able to get the 'wrong' key fobs programmed despite numerous attempts and variations, thus confirming I did indeed order the wrong ones. FORScan does not show any PATS service procedures on my '24 Lariat. Various other posts indicate this should be under the ABS module, or under the RFA module according to a screenshot done on someone's '23 Lariat. But can't find it anywhere in FORScan connected to my vehicle.
I did get one of these as suggested by dmopro and was able to successfully program it with the self-programming procedure. Still waiting for these to arrive from Ford. Its been 3 weeks and no status update from Ford ☹ although I did receive the rest of the order. No word if they are backordered, or what. I'm hoping they will work with my truck - they are compatible according to Ford's website - but I am skeptical. Gonna pay the dealer $12 to program them for me so there will be no argument about returning them if they don't work. Hoping they do as they will be smaller and lighter in my pocket.

You see where the product page shows them as non-returnable, right?
Exactly why I plan to pay the dealer to program them instead of spending 30 seconds to do it myself. Also why I had them shipped to the dealer instead of my house (and saved $ on shipping). So if they don't work, I'll not even leave the dealership with them.

Sounds like a plan, although I doubt they'll program them without paying for them first,,,

Keep us posted. HRG

Already paid for with my points so concerned with a refund if they don't work with the 'intelligent access'. Somehow my gut instinct says they won't. Also armed with a printout from the website including "Engineered to fit your vehicle", "Ford stands behind this accessory's fit and performance", and "Fits these vehicle: Ford Maverick 2022-2024".
I will certainly post here whether they work or not (if I ever get them) as I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate a smaller lighter fob in their pocket.

UPDATE: Finally-- after 3 months-- received the new small 1 button fobs. According to Ford, they are supposed to work on the Lariats with the remote start and pushbutton start (aka intelligent access). I had a gut instinct they wouldn't, so I asked the dealer to program them, was gonna pay extra for that. The tech blithely attempted to do so several times without success, consulted several manuals, asked some other techs, and finally called someone at Ford who also said they should work. But in the end the tech ultimately failed to program them. And I came prepared with printouts from the Ford website saying they work. The dealer quickly waived the programming fee but would not allow me to return the fobs.
So I have wasted $115 worth of points on some useless fobs. So, if like me, you were hoping for something smaller and lighter in your pocket, this is not the answer.

Sorry to hear that, $115 down the drain. Just as HRG mentioned. At least folks in the future will know if they read this thread
