I ordered an XL hybrid 9-22 and again 7-23. The truck got here last week, I went to buy it and the salesmen said they never heard of any private offer/price protection/rebates ect for rolled over orders. I said that they should be able to look it up on smart vincent and showed him the chart from this forum showing the different amounts for each trim level for different years. The salesman took a picture of the chart on my phone and showed some other guys. They came back to me and said the guy that handles the rebates isn't here today. So I came back the next day when he was there. They said it was a time consuming process filling out the rebate paper work. The finance manager presented the paperwork that included 2,750 dollars off the total. Signed the papers and thought all was well.
So now, three days later the dealership calls me and wants a copy of a email where Ford offered me 2,750 off. I told him I didn't receive an offer via email. He responded by saying that they applied the rebate under the impression that Ford emailed me an offer and that's what the salesman took a picture of on my phone. Apparently he never looked it up on smart vincent, said he doesn't know how to use it. He implied that I need proof of an email/rebate or I have to pay the $2,750 back to the dealer.

What do you guys think about that?
The price protection $$$ for orders that roll over goes from FoMoCo to the dealer. The amount should display in SmartVincent. FoMoCo has no relationship with you or me, the retail customer. [I believe that is somehow related to their franchise agreement but don't quote me]

It is up to the dealer to then pass all, some or none on to the customer. Which your dealer did. If not, how did the dealer even know to give you the $2750? At this point, the dealer needs to work with their Zone Manager to resolve it. Actually, there is nothing you can or should do.

To get a better understanding, the wonderful folks at Long McArthur Ford. Tim and Sarah, will take your call or answer your email question.

How do I know all this about the FoMoCo/dealer relationship? My dealer tried to screw me out of $600 of the price protection $$$ so I had to fight my dealer but I got a check from the dealer for $600 after 3 days of drama. So they obviously had the price protection $$$ or they would not have written a check to me.

I'd doubt dealer's word. They have access to all that information.

I never received any private offer, once the Maverick was about to arrive, I just asked the salesman for the rebate, he later texted me back confirming it ($3400).

The day I went to buy the truck, the salesman was absent, I asked the finance manager for the rebate, they didn't know anything about it. I told him to check it because I had the vendor's confirmation. Half an hour later, he had all the paperwork ready, including the rebate. Final price was MSRP minus rebate. Zero mark up. Zero issues.

I chose that dealer because they have great customer service reviews, and they were right, all the experience was absolutely good.

Same here, never received an email, it was all internal from Ford to the dealer. I didn't know what rebate I was getting, $3,400 until my Mav XLT arrived and I sat down to go over the numbers.

Everyone saying to just ghost the dealer, you need to make sure you have another dealer around to take your truck to if you have problems. If not the dealer can just look the other way whenever you need service.

I ordered my Maverick about the same time, the dealer just gave me the discount. No questions
My brother ordered his truck the same day. Arrived several months later than mine, dealer refused to give discount.
So good luck. I hope you get to keep yours

I ordered mine late in 21. Dec 26th a Sunday. Price increase was supposed to happen on the 27th. Got my truck Nov 22 dealer told me that when they get the price protection check they would give it to me. Took a few weeks but I did get it.

I think it’s the typical dealer with typical issues. That’s why I went with Tim Bart’s at Long McArthur and flew from Georgia to Kansas and drove it back home. Zero problems. Got my $2750 when my local dealer just wanted to play games.

My dealer did something similar with me. I had my price COVP. They only charged me the original price at the initial purchase when they didnt really need to. A few weeks later I get a check in for the $500 in my name too. They had no way to force me to give them the money. The deal was done and they screwed up. Now my dealer has been nice in every way possible they could so I brought it back but if they were dicks about it. It wouldnt happen.

It's amazing to me how many dealers don't know, or pretend to not know, how to process these effin' price protections.

I wouldn't go to them for services after this encounter anyways. What a disaster.

But you do raise a good, albeit sad, point that dealerships pretty much have a chokehold on warranty work and there is no shortage of that for our Mavericks, that's for sure.

Does this dealer have any morals? Sounds like they're trying to strong arm you for $2500. They're going to spend twice that trying to weasel that out of you. A deal's a deal. You haven't done anything with malicious intent, so I would gather up all your documentations and tell them you'll see them in court if they persist.
