First time it happened to me I was wondering how did they do it then how did they miss seeing it!
I bent it back then when it happened at the next service, I figured out it was the dealers car wash. When I took my other Maverick in for it's first service, the license plate didn't bend because it had a frame around the plate. Not a heavy steel one just a dealer advertisement plastic frame but provided enough support the plate didn't bend.

After getting some MTC thoughts, I now think it was the dealership car wash but, I don’t know how you could miss seeing this. It sticks out like a sore thumb. I hate the plastic dealership advertisement plate frames and I always tell them to leave it off because I’ll just remove it anyway. I think I’ll get the black aluminum license plate frames off of Amazon to protect the integrity of the plate going forward and avoid any more crazy bending.

I had an oil change done last week at the largest dealership in the region, and they put the wrong oil in my hybrid for its first change. They used 5w30 blend oil that in supposed to only be used on EB models instead of the 0w20 full synthetic required by hybrids. They argued that there was a memo out about not needing synthetic, and that all Mavericks can use the same oil. Dipshits. I had them dump it and put in the correct oil. If they looked at labels, here is no such 0w20 blend or dyno oil, only synthetic. I guess they don't read their memos too well, and don't even read the filler cap either. I'll bet they think its a 710 cap or something else so stupid. They also charged a ridiculous amount for the change.
Bottom line: Find a dealer who does not hire morons.

So I take Mav to the dealership for the first oil change since I’m getting too old to climb under these things anymore. First, I actually have to correct them regarding the oil for a hybrid Mav vs the Ecoboost. That didn’t give me a whole lot of confidence. When I pick up Mav, I confirm the full syn and 0w-20 and drive home. Then I see the rear license plate nearly folded over; my wife actually bent it halfway back before this pic. How can you not know that this happened??? Maybe they thought the license plate needed an oil change as well??? How do you even get near the recessed, rear license plate during an oil change???? These dealerships don’t understand how important it is to take care of a customer vehicle no matter how minor their faulted issue is. Of course, I let them know when they requested a quality rating and never heard boo back from them. This kind of stuff drives me NUTS!!!!

They probaily put your truck thru an car wash with spinning brushes. That's what happens if you don't have a frame around the license plate.

I'd almost gaurantee it was the wash, and I'd also almost gaurantee that the individual that took it through the wash had absolutely no idea that anything had happened.

And the "wash guy" ain't exactly high-skilled labor in most cases.

...And what everyone wrote above about their negative experiences at dealers and [Jiffy Lube missing dipstick etc.] is why I keep my vehicles as far away from dealers as possible.

I realize not everyone can do their own basic maintenance, and that recalls and warranty repairs require the dealer, but routine maintenance in the quick lane seems to be performed by the newest, lowest paid and least trained techs.

The exception is the Lexus dealer. They are very careful. They use an iPad or Tablet and do a walkaround video of my wife's vehicle whenever it goes in. Which is seldom since I change the oil in it myself.

Did first oil change at largest dealer in the area. Assumed they did it correctly. But at the last oil change it was taking a lot of time....Service Tech came out and told me who ever did the last oil change (Hennesy Ford) put the oil plate cover back on "cock-eyed" and stripped one of the bolts and they had to look around for a replacement bolt that fit to put it back on correctly.

I no longer go the Ford dealer for oil changes.

That’s what I am concluding also. Already went on Amazon and got a nice matte black aluminum plate frame for the rear plate.

Mine was folded similarly while in Mexico in March... and I thought that it was someone trying to steal it when I was in Navojoa Sonora because it's kind of a cool personalized license plate.... My color is Hot Pepper Red, so my plate is the name of a chili...

However, I now realized that I did take it to a car wash in Navojoa Sonora... Not and automated one with brushes, but one with a hand wand and hand brush that pivots on the roof above... So easy to catch license plates, mud flaps, mirrors with those things if you aren't a careful operator. So, I imagine the car wash person caught my plate with one of those hoses as they worked their way around the vehicle cleaning it..

Let’s just say you’re a great guesser …….
😞 I was literally sitting in the lounge having my oil changed when I saw your post. Seems like everything went ok for me so far 🤞I'm not sure what they used for my change, but I hope it was the correct one. Well it was the only one they will be doing (as it was the first service -FREE one) so I will be doing them for now on . The only problem is those damn shields 🤣

Worse yet, they took a Magic Marker to your plate!
I don't understand why people do this for posting. Everyone on the highway can see your plate #!
