We just spied the latest camouflage reduction on Ford’s revamped 2025 Maverick which confirms once and for all that the mid-cycle overhaul will marry the Hybrid powertrain with AWD, answering one of the big wish-list items since the compact pickup burst on the scene.

Badges Confirm Hybrid AWD Addition to the Maverick Lineup
This confirmation comes thanks to the removal of the rest of the camouflage on one of the Maverick prototypes—named Benito, according to the sticker applied to the truck’s rear window. With the rear camouflage gone, the fully-badged tailgate announces this important new development. Now, Maverick buyers don’t have to choose between a FWD-only fuel-sipper, or the less-efficient AWD variant. They can get power to all four wheels, AND the Maverick’s fuel-efficient hybrid drivetrain. We also included an earlier shot of the “Benito” before the graphic wrap was removed, in order to provide a better look at the independent rear suspension that makes up the Maverick AWD variant.

New Grille Design and Front-Fascia Fully Revealed
This Hybrid AWD prototype also gives us our first fully uncovered look at another one of the Maverick’s revised front fascias for its 2025 lineup. Our earlier shots of a blue, Lariat-badged, undisguised Maverick prototype with lots of body-color trim revealed a new vertically-slatted grille design that was likely a new sporty package available for the Lariat or XLT trims (as it is with the Tremor package). This new prototype—Benito—is also badged as a Lariat, but its aggressive grille texture is completely different, and reveals the Maverick’s new face without the body-color accents and newly available fog lights. We also get a very close-up look at the Maverick’s redesigned headlights, which have more F-150 flavor on the trucklet’s new face.

We also get another look at the Maverick’s new, larger infotainment screen, without any camouflage adorning the dashboard. Once again, it appears to be the 13.2-inch landscape display that is also found on the upper trims of the Ford Escape and the Mustang. More tech upgrades will be found in augmented safety sensors, which may also bring with it Blue Cruise availability. New cameras have been installed on the side mirrors of higher-end Maverick trims, along with a frontal radar sensor that can be seen nestled into the truck’s lower air-intake.

Not gonna lie, at first I hated the blue "ST" that I saw. But I am absolutely loving the '25 Maverick front end. It's going to be tempting to not buy one! And I know a ton of people will be very happy about the AWD Hybrid option.

I kind of like the different grill looks, almost like they are trying to pull in the few and far cruz drivers with the fancier stylings...but that bumper does show where the FX4/Tremor tow hooks will be going compared to the other bumpers. The headlight/headlight redesign I am still iffy about, but like the different grill options

Also, am I seeing the 4k towing wiring? The 4pin/round 7pin connectors. I do not believe the round 7pin was on anything other than the 4k tow package. Would that hint to the AWD being able to tow 4k? I ask because I have the 4k on my ecoboost and it has the split wire plug in for the 4/7 pin and I thought non tow packages just had the 4 pin plug in...

That'll be interesting to find out. I think the Escape with the hybrid AWD is only 1500. I kind of doubt they're beefing it up to 4k.

That is correct. I know when Ford first announced the Maverick they said both the EcoBoost and Hybrid would have the 4k option available. Then shortly after the order banks opened they notified people who had ordered a Hybrid with the 4k that it was not available. So I'm sure that with the AWD the Hybrid can tow 4k lbs.

The only real difference is the factory trailer brake controller and the added oil cooler. Adding a trailer brake controller to an AWD Hybrid would easily be able to tow 4k lbs.

For those who may not be sure, I was referencing these 2 photos. One is maverick with just tow hitch and the 4 pin connector. the second photo (from above) should have the 4k tow package where you can see 2 different plugs...

This development rekindles my interest. AWD Hybrid fits my needs. I’ve driven AWD Audis for 20+ years. Need a pickup now and want hybrid efficiency but hate 2WD traction loss in wet conditions and on boat ramp.
Now if they can just eliminate all those recalls———

You'll be waiting a long time. Quality has been Job 1 at Ford since the 1980s.

What’s the price point though? If it’s 40k then not worth it to me. I’ll keep my FWD hybrid
Just depends if it’s lariat or what trim you can get it . If it’s all yes it will be if it’s only lariat no
