I've been thinking about this for months now. Car enthusiasts are always thinking about what comes next. I have the maverick, that's my go to, does everything car. It's comfortable, reliable, fuel efficient, can haul whatever I need, etc.

But I'm thinking of what car to park alongside it. As most of the people on these forums are car enthusiasts, I want their feedback on this. Right now, I'm thinking of one of these once they depreciate more in a few years, or an s650 mustang. They're apparently far more reliable than most used mid engine exotics, and I think they're the best looking car lotus ever made. I'm trying to have the most varied ownership experience I can with as few cars as possible.

I don't know, brainstorm some ideas with me.

These are what we have besides our daily drivers (my Maverick and her Fusion). Collectively, they provide a classic muscle truck, classic muscle car, and street-legal go-kart experience.

1961 Ford Starliner , belonged to Grandpa , I've been the " caretaker " for 37 years . Currently has 18,000 original miles .
Ordered my Maverick hybrid back in October '21 , received October '22 . Currently has 5,000 miles , no issues..... except the bothersome recalls ...

Nice looking car for sure but that "Made in the UK" sticker scares the hell out of me.

The limeys drink warm beer because Lucas makes their refrigerators. :ROFLMAO:

One of my favorite Mustangs. Love the 60's style, but this style (1989-1992) I really liked. And they are FAST!!

I can say I love the lotus but man you can get better bang for your buck.
Out of all my cars.
My focus Rs is by far the most “fun” and engaging. Fastest nope, just pure fun. And the looks are to kill for imo. I actually have a buddy that has the evora and he still drives his rs much more because he thinks the same thing.

Normally I wouldn't even risk it, but lotus uses Toyota engines and transmissions in most of their newer cars. I believe it's the powertrain from the Camry specifically. What I've heard is they have a few smaller issues with things like having to replace the motor for the windows, or swapping out a headlight. But in terms of the greasy bits, I've heard they're remarkably reliable, and most of them have relatively low mileage. I've heard the clutches can be very expensive when they go, up to 10k, but I probably wouldn't be buying the manual version anyways.

You can get ones with 20 or 30k miles on them for sub 50 grand. Still a lot of money, but not an insane price for something that looks and handles like that with a halfway reliable motor.

How reliable are the RS's? My professor had one, which he sold for a mk 5 supra. He had the motor replaced, the head gasket went out, but after that, he said it was basically flawless. He sold it to one of his friends who makes YouTube vids in Utah with it.

You didn't give us any constraints, so... an old Ferrari 308/328? :D

In all seriousness, the only other Ford I have lusted after in recent history is a GT350. I am not sure you could tow it even with the 4K package, but man you would get the engine sound your Mav won't ever deliver.

It’s like anything else a lot depends on how you treat it. Most engine failures were wrong oil and lspi. Some had head gaskets but those numbers were pretty low. Wrong head gasket was installed. Ford knew exactly which cars got them.
I’ve had zero issues but I take great care of mine and have a long block build.
But one of my friends absolutely trashed his all day everyday and he’s has nothing break just adds tires and brakes a lot. The amount of abuse they see at the track is nuts and never seen one have to be hailed off so I would say they are tough.
