haha... It is funny to read today. The 6000 was plain ol early 80's heap. The STE was GM getting back to performance. 135 horsepower and a 3 speed automatic (ok you could get a 5 speed manual in the first years too at least). But this was their BMW/Audi competition.. still running a carburetor. 0-60 in 11.2 seconds... which is slower than an early model prius. Wow the early 80's were not fun. Car and Driver top 10 car 3 years in a row and Road and Track called it one of the top 12 "enthusiast cars".
I remember they did the same high praise review of the Fiat Le Car. I guess even the publication owners gotta eat, total sellouts.

So again, you just said it yourself… it’s the “truck” segment. The whole point of Slash’s comment. 🥴🥴
No he said its one of the top ten trucks "is there more than ten trucks to choose from" The article calls it one of the top ten vehicles!

And part of me gets it. If you are a US car company, putting a top ten list together in 1983, that list is going to be pretty tough to make. In hingsight maybe they should have just said Countach, Ferrari 512 BBI, M3, 911, Ruf BTR and the rest are crap. haha... But they had to pick a few new cars to the list, I believe they have a price limit so all the actual good cars from that era are out, need some "sporty" ones at an affordable price, etc.

I don't think history will quite repeat itself in that regard, but if in 50 years every vehicle has a 1000hp engine and runs to 60 in 2 seconds, we'd be laughing at what a dog the Maverick is too.

Yeah a 135 horse pontiac sounds like crap. The BMW 3 series (non m3) had 110. lol

Yeah it's weird. It literally titles itself "10best trucks"

But then it's full of SUV's car based CUV's and a van even.

Like that picture does not match the title there. lol That's a hatchback.

So that is a bit more impressive for the Maverick then for sure.

True Mav is not inexpensive but in 2025 no vehicle is inexpensive.

Cheapest 2025 Maverick hybrid awd I paid $30,535 I believe, vs cheapest Rav4 & CRV awd hybrids were $36k & $35k & cheapest Mazda CX30 awd hybrid was $33k (all from Truecar quotes).

The cheapest I could get a quote for on any lot within a 3 hour drive!!! Just insane. I was curious about Maverick but it was those idiotic 2025 prices that made me pull the trigger.

Yeah the white Mav XL awd hybrid with steel wheels looks like Im your friendly electric utility guy, but inside is another story. Alot more drivers seat room than in a CRV & probably also a rav4 or escape, and the only person who matters for seat comfort is the driver - me! Haha

That said, the Mav hard plastic interior is definitely not winning "best luxury interior" over the above mentioned, but $5000 is just a crapload of money to haul less stuff.

You mean even this total lie in the article?

It's not inexpensive, and let's be honest it does feel cheap.
