So... I had my 2022 XL serviced at a dealer. I got the majority of the "Software" recalls done, an oil change, and a tire rotation. Got my Mav back and found the Cruise Control I had installed no longer working.
I did the Cruise Control install myself; got Forscan, the Motorcraft switches, and programmed it all and it worked fantastic.
Would I be in the wrong in asking the dealer to fix my CC? Would they charge me for the programming since the XL doesn't have factory CC?
Anyway, I'm a little peeved. 😤

Am I going to have to reprogram the CC every time I take it in for service?

The recalls performed were reprogramming recalls. this would lead any non-factory programming to be removed. just getting an oil change or a non programing service done will not affect anything you do. im not sure how your dealer will handle it. but in the future let them know you have done some of your own work and they should be able to do it while its there for you.

The dealer doesn't pick and choose how the programming is done....appropriate software is downloaded from Ford based on VIN. Your VIN doesn't have cruise control, so the updates won't include that.

Your dealer has no way of knowing that you modified the software unless you tell them.

I can't see Ford paying the dealer to modify the software. Your dealer may or may not be willing to do so for you (possibly free, possibly for a fee). They also might not want to be involved in modifying the software.

You'll just have to ask them.

You'll just have to re-do the programming. I had to reset a bunch of stuff I had done on my Maverick when I had my techs do the Taillight Fault recall. The dealership won't even know how to go in and reprogram it to get it working again.

I was more worried about this until I saw it was an XL with what amounts to aftermarket mods. While it's still unfortunate, it's not uncommon to see that. With a lot of modern performance cars for instance, if you're running an aftermarket tune, and get software updates, there's a good chance it removes the aftermarket tune.

I had the same problem. When the dealer called me to set up the appointment, I expressed my con cern , and was told they had never heard of that happening. The tech came to my house serviced my 22 XL did the recall and left, lo and behold no cruise, called them up and they sent a third party tech to my house and he reinstalled the cruise control. He stated that he was doing a lot of these for local dealers.

I would not expect a dealer to program your truck to something that is not OEM/stock.
