With so many BCM updates I wonder if the order on which updates are done matters.

For example, if you were to do this one first and then instrument illumination and turn signal later, would that potentially cause concerns
Ford came out and did a mobile service to address this warranty today everything works and there are no issues.

Another recall, this one for tail lights. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/ford-recalls-maverick-pickups-us-tail-lights-dark-109822246

Official Details:

The defect: in affected vehicles, the Body Control Module (BCM) may inadvertently deactivate one or both rear tail lights.

The hazards: rear tail lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: Body Control Module (BCM)

Affected vehicles: select 2022-2024 Ford Maverick models produced at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between February 3rd, 2021, and March 21st, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 242,669

The fix: dealers will update the BCM software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on May 20th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S24.

It would be nice if Ford addressed the fact that regen braking does not operate the brake lights, into this recall. Regen braking can slow the truck really quickly, especially when in 'L'. It would be better if the brake lights came on to warn drivers behind.

I think i have a couple software update recalls at the moment. It's 2024, why do we have to go to a dealer for this? OTA the update, Ford!!

I don't think this will ever happen. I think the regen is highest in eco mode and even there the braking effect is very gradual until you touch the brake pedal. I find myself using the slippery mode the most as I prefer coasting more than having to use the gas pedal to make the regen less aggressive in eco or normal. It's also not good to have people behind you breaking because they see your brake light come on 1/2 a block from where you stop. Although I think the "L" is a little too aggressive in most cases, there is not a car made today that puts on the brake light when you shift into low to descend a hill. If you're using it to slow down before a stoplight that might be problematic and using the brake might be a better choice!

I would keep an eye out for a few weeks. I have had this issue happen maybe once a month (that I notice) its not like it happens every time I drove the vehicle. So because they fixed it that day and it didnt happen that same day, I would be skeptical that its completely fixed. I would hope and keep fingers crossed that yes it is fixed, but when I would go a few weeks without noticing the issue, then I would feel like it fixed the issue. just my $0.02 tho.

But the 3rd brake light and reverse lights could be replaced with no issues. It's only the brake/ turn signals which need to indicate to the driver they're burnt out.
I cant quite remember if I did the brake/turns as well- Have to go back and look- lol

I think Ford would say to use your brake pads (and brake lights) to slow down rather than your transmission and just drive normally.
Or if you really have to use "L" to slow down, put your brake light on too.
When I'm slowing down on my motorcycle, I do downshift to be in the correct gear at all times - but I also slightly apply the brakes to display the light for the smartphone enthusiast behind me.
But it's just not necessary or desirable to "downshift" in an automatic - even a hybrid.

I got pulled over today by a cop who informed me the rear driver's side light weren't working. Went home and could not duplicate the problem no matter what I did. As a precaution, I removed the Lasfit ver2 I had on there and installed the original factory lights.
That's all I'm saying.
That's what I'm talking about.
These trucks weren't designed for LEDs.
Pointing it out makes me a negative troll to some, OK.

Dealer called to set up an appointment to fix. Set for Wednesday morning in my driveway. I'll let you know in the unlikely event the recall causes my truck to burst into flames.
Recall complete and truck is bereft of flame.

Didn't even mess up my Forscan mods. Only evidence he even did anything was the truck forgot the tire pressure on all four tires. But those came back during my quick run around the block.

Got my BCM and the tail lights recalls done yesterday. Truck is fine. My dealership said they don’t address the turn signal recall unless it’s not working.

The main concern of the turn signal recall is that you would never know if it's not working.
That's the whole point.
If only one bulb goes out your turn signal will not hyperflash to warn you it's not really working. (Apparently if both bulbs go out it will warn you.)
Sounds like they just don't want to do it.
Ask them how you would ever know if it's not working? Being rear ended?

that's pretty interesting. I wonder what will happen to '22 XLs with cruise control added. they were definitely breaking from the February recall.

Yeah, good point I assumed they don’t want to do it out of precaution for the hybrid crapping the bed in the middle of the highway.

Good question. I have a 22 XL with cruise added and last reflash recall wiped my forscan mods. Has anyone with a 22 XL and cruise done this without issues?

Yeah, good point I assumed they don’t want to do it out of precaution for the hybrid crapping the bed in the middle of the highway.

Speaking of the Mav crapping the bed in the middle of the highway and the recall... that happened while we were driving yesterday. We were on the freeway cruising along when all of a sudden a bunch of warning signs related to the Ford Co-Pilot 360 started saying they were failing, warning popped up saying "can't accelerate in current gear", and then the accelerator stopped working completely to where we were losing speed. Pulled over, turned everything off and tried to start it again and it wouldn't turn over.

A tow truck, long afternoon, and trip to the dealer later I got a call from the mechanic and found out that the recent recall update for the turn signal (23C41) had a bug in the software and was causing the issue of everything to fail. My dealer said my '23 hybrid Mav is the 4th they've seen this happen to in recent months. Lucky me. He said the first Mav that came in with the issue was on their lot for over a month while Ford was digging into the issue.

All Recalls done on my truck (all software updates):
23P18 PCM Reprogramming
24C01 IPC Illumination
23C41 Turn signal outage detection failure

It's being worked on right now under the latest turn signal recall (I presume to fix their bug of the truck shutting down):
24S27/24V293

Here's to hoping everything is squared away after this...

Additional context: Pickup up my '23 Hybrid Mav in July 2023 and it's got 7,800 miles on it. (2 Road trips and city driving with no issues until this)
