Is it possible to track a stolen using the vehicle telematics? Have a 2020 mustang with disabled gps but I’m able to receive vehicle info. Was driven 300 miles today. Any hackers out there. Thanks.

First post, seems legit. :cautious:
Very legit. My Shelby is stolen and trying anything to find help in recovering. Insurance denied my claim so I’m on the hook. I read a thread that led me to this site. Any help would be appreciated.

Ford maybe able to help you out with this. They are tracking everything the vehicle is doing ( at least with our trucks) but I don't know about your car. Try your dealership they may be able to help you out( as long as you have the proof they will need). I literally took ownership on Friday and don't know a lot about it yet but I did research that particular issue because I didn't want Ford selling my information to LexisNexis or vrisk ECT ..thank God I live in a state that allows me to block the sale of that information. Good luck hope you get it back.

Actually curious why insurance denied the theft loss.

As a former claims adjuster, common reason for denial of vehicle theft was no Comprehensive coverage.
But being a 2020 Shelby, I would hope you had Comprehensive coverage.
Super rare to deny a theft claim if comprehensive coverage was there and there is a police report.
Gray area and rare was a dispute, like it was listed for sale/sold, someone took it for a test drive and never came back and never paid as expected.

What reason did your insurance deny it?

Also, I found a link for an official Ford Stolen Vehicle Services and phone number.
Not sure the eligibility criteria, but might be worth a call.

Hope that helps.

I used to also be an adjuster another reason to possibly deny the claim would be if a permissive user or listed driver took off with the vehicle.

Unfortunately it was a consignment deal gone bad. State Farm has an exclusion on agreements. Dealer not held liable. Already tried to sue them.

Already tried ford. If no gps signal is detected then there is no help. Telematics still being reported to ford. I need a hacker that can trace back that signal.

Good news on the LexisNexis front. I pulled a copy of my report and zero anything from Ford on it. So at least as of the first run of Mavs on the market they aren't giving telemetry data at this time. I'm sure the terms and conditions say they can however. I highly recommend requesting a copy of your report from LexisNexis. It's free.

Already did that prior to my Mav nothing there. I also opted out at the same time and they will no longer share anything if ever they do get information from any source. It just sucks that you have to take such drastic steps to protect yourself from companies trying to profit off of you despite the negative impact it has on you.

I don't restrict their sharing, just monitor what they have and leave it be. Keeps insurance reasonable while keeping me at least involved in the data being shared. I can go after a first party if I'm unhappy with their data while keeping the rest status quo.

Honestly as long as a car manufacturer isn't selling my telemetry wholesale most of the rest of the data is pretty easy to acquire through other sources anyways.

That's not how things work. You'd need to contact the cellphone service provider, probably need some kind of police warrant/ intervention.

Or a willing Ford Employee with the right access, or maybe even AT&T. I assume that’s the cell provider.
