If I have no tickets, no accidents, why should the insurance company care what I do................so the answer is NO, its none of there business.

BTW, your insurance company already has your driving and accident history, your credit report, age, sex, they do not need anything else.

Actually, it is their business - it's exactly their business.
But even if it wasn't and they don't even need it, why do you care?

Maybe my rates will go down if they nail the crap drivers.
The ones who don't want them to know how they are driving.

While you're giving text commands to your radio or Nav system, insert some trigger words to see if anyone is really listening.

Steve
So if you're driving near an airport start talking about explosives or something and wait for the helicopter to show up?

If nothing else, it's the fact they didn't tell the people they were doing it.

There are programs where peopel sign up to have their driving monitored by a device plugged into their vehicle and they may get an insurance rate reduction because of it. The person very well may drive slightly differently knowing it's there. That seems fair to me.

It's monitoring people without their knowledge that bothers me. I wouldn't care if my wife knew where I was all of the time. But if she sneakily put a tracking device on my vehicle without telling me, I'd be pissed.

There should be full disclosure beforehand, if nothing else, in my opinion.

I drive so good, I'd welcome some monitoring, LOL! :ROFLMAO: I might get a trophy, I'm so good.:sneaky:

Ditto hear. I have now had my Maverick for 2 years, and just turned 5,000 miles. With the exception of a trip to North Carolina to attend my ex-wife's funeral, a ONE-TIME event, my Maverick and I have been to all these places in Eldersburg: barber shop, Martin's grocery/gasoline, WalMart, Burger King, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Panera, Chili's, and I just found out we have a Dairy Queen. Like jollyroger, the spies are going to need travel money to keep up with my jet-setting life. Addendum: Dairy Queen has discontinued the Choco-Cherry Blizzard.
So have you been getting targeted ads for cholesterol or diabetes medication?

I guess the tinfoil hat wearing people that are so concerned about this don't have cellphones...
I get that point but I think the concern here is regarding Car insurance. When you got to get insurance or they're going to have access to your driving data,? If you get into an accident are they going to tell the company your rate of speed before the accident? That's a little bit more concerning and what kind of batteries I like to order on Amazon

Yes I do!
Maybe the crappy drivers will get their insurance raised - even ticketed, I'm all for that. I think people that don't use their turn signals should spend a couple weeks in a jail cell paying 4 time what it cost to put them there. Send them the tickets and court appearance dates automatically.
I can see if you're a crappy driver or cell phone enthusiast you wouldn't want
your "telematics" monitored.
I invite it.
So... you don't want your insurance company or law enforcement to know how you drive huh?
Crappy drivers? You're assuming the insurance company will make the distinction between dangerous tailgaters,( how they'd know that I don't,) those who occasionally speed ( assume you do) and actual dangerous drivers

So you're concerned that your insurance company will know that you were speeding when you get involved in an accident? Wow

I assume it'll put me in the top 3% of drivers whether or not I occasionally speed.
