While you're giving voice commands to your radio or Nav system, insert some trigger words to see if anyone is really listening.

The Office of Personal Management already gave ALL my info to China back in 2015. Who cares if the government knows I played The Heretic Anthem at full blast 6x in a row during a grocery store trip.

Yep, many cars have been collecting metadata for years. Same as your phone. Same as when you purchase anything on line. Same as when you check out on a self check out station at any store. Same as the multitude of cameras that you appear on in public areas. There really is no such thing as privacy in the modern world:confused:

I used to worry about that stuff, but I'm just one of millions who's info they have. That's a lot to sort. 😬

Grocery store you shop with rewards knows what you eat.
Credit cards know what you buy.
Apple/Google know all about you via your phone, email, web browsing etc.

The worst part (is it?) about this story - your insurance going up b/c your car/truck shared how bad a driver you are with them.

It's no secret. Everyone is spying on us and stealing our info. We consent to it every time we buy something or create an account or sign paperwork etc etc.

Sucks, but that's the way it is. I only worry about the Opsec related stuff in regards to my identity. The whole system is not designed for success...

Cool, so they see me go to work, go fishing, and pick up the foster kid. Have fun sorting through that data I guess, sounds like a real cash grab.
Ditto hear. I have now had my Maverick for 2 years, and just turned 5,000 miles. With the exception of a trip to North Carolina to attend my ex-wife's funeral, a ONE-TIME event, my Maverick and I have been to all these places in Eldersburg: barber shop, Martin's grocery/gasoline, WalMart, Burger King, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Panera, Chili's, and I just found out we have a Dairy Queen. Like jollyroger, the spies are going to need travel money to keep up with my jet-setting life. Addendum: Dairy Queen has discontinued the Choco-Cherry Blizzard.

The grocery chain I work for told upper management that the rewards program should generate some $200m per year in revenue by selling info.

They also know how many times you exceed the speed limit, how many times you had to brake hard, where you've been, where you stopped, time of day, how long you were there, your maintenance records, and much more. Your insurance company is very interested in this information, and police can obtain it with a warrant.

One article states, "The Mozilla Foundation, the nonprofit behind the Firefox internet browser, analyzed 25 car brands and concluded 84% share and sell customer data acquired through drivers’ use of their cars, third-party apps on the car's computer, and the car’s app itself, which can give the companies access to data on your phone."
