Not sure if it is just me but I notice people in cars that will stop where 2 or 3 cars can fit in before the other stopped car making it harder for my Maverick to stop before feeling like I am in that cars back seat anybody else seeing other cars do this and is there a reason cars are leaving this much space? If people in cars would close up the gap it sure would help us truckers out

It just feels like when I brake because of the extra distance eco takes to brake going from 55 to stop I am pretty much in the car's back seat then the car easies up about another 10 feet that they could of done before I came to a stop to make my stop easier

Motor Trend tested a 2.0EB, Edmunds tested a Hybrid, and both got IDENTICAL 60-0 distances of 119 ft. No difference.

We are having trouble understanding your complaint. I think what you are trying to say is that cars in front of you are braking too hard too fast and making you brake harder than you care to?

Driving a Maverick doesn't make you a trucker. It makes you a person driving a little pick-up.
If you're repeatedly having trouble stopping that's on you, not the person in front of you. You're following too close for the speed or not paying attention..

I see a lot of 2nd car in the line being further back, so that they don't get hit when the first car in the line gets hit. I'm not sure how valid that is though.
Also there are an awful lot of amateurs drivers out there, who have no idea how long their hood is or where the wheels are, and they want the biggest truck because they have manliness issues or something. These also tend to be the jerks who back into parking spaces until they hit the curb, thus blocking the sidewalk. You also can't forget the fairly large percentage of people who bought a truck or SUV that is waay too big for them to see out of properly. Just think of the little 5'0" woman peeking over the dash expecting to actually see what's going on. I've also been stuck in a Walmart parking lot for 15 minutes while waiting for a big burly guy in his biggest-possible GM pickup to figure out how far over he can get to let traffic past, because he can't see out either. There should be some kind of code on your licence showing how big a vehicle you're allowed to drive safely. Most of the population should not be allowed to drive today's oversized pickups and 3-row SUVs for example. Maybe we'll see the death of huge pickups and huge SUVs soon and more smaller and appropriately-sized vehicles being bought in the future, like the Mav.

I'm responding to your claim that the Eco takes longer to stop. What average cars are you comparing stopping distance to?

HRG
From the time I see other people brake lights to my truck actually coming to a complete stop

The data clearly shows that Maverick's have a shorter than average stopping distance, especially for a truck. Maybe put down your beer and your phone and stop tailgating?

I leave room between myself and the car in front of me at a stop because if I do happen to get bumped or hit in the rear I’m have some space to possibly avoid hitting the stopped vehicle in front of me when I get hit. I think that’s a good driving practice for everyone and here in Tucson it’s very common.
