I'm responding to your claim that the Eco takes longer to stop. What average cars are you comparing stopping distance to?

The data clearly shows that Maverick's have a shorter than average stopping distance, especially for a truck. Maybe put down your beer and your phone and stop tailgating?

Not on phone nor beer and I leave enough space a F 150 fits between me and the car in front

Not sure if it is just me but I notice people in cars that will stop where 2 or 3 cars can fit in before the other stopped car making it harder for my Maverick to stop before feeling like I am in that cars back seat anybody else seeing other cars do this and is there a reason cars are leaving this much space? If people in cars would close up the gap it sure would help us truckers out
I have noticed some people leaving 1-2 car lengths between them and the car in front at a red light. Don't know why. With that said I have been leaving enough room to be able to go around someone if I need to. Don't know why but I see more people just not moving when a light changes? Probably on their phone, I don't know!
On the highway I am leaving more room now because I see too many last minute lane changes in front of me. I drive my cars like I used to drive my motorcycles, always leave myself a way to avoid a bad situation. Defensive driving without impeding traffic.

Trying to interpret what you wrote, you drive a big-rig [trucker] and wonder why cars leave large intervals in stop-and-go traffic?

Traffic is flow. Here on SoCal freeways, intelligent drivers and most big-rigs leave an interval so they don't get rear ended in the stop and go freeway traffic. They don't need to use brakes to come to a complete stop, saves brakes, saves fuel, preferring to leave an interval so they can creep at 10mph rather than slam on their brakes after going 20 mph when the car in front of them stops.

Leaving an interval also allows others to merge in and out to position themselves for a freeway exit as opposed to stopping completely in their lane until someone will let them merge right.

Tailgating and not leaving a safe interval doesn't get you to your destination any sooner - you may feel closer but it takes just as much time.

I worked for a municipal government and had a government-issued car. One of the requirements every year for those of use who had said car was to take an annual driving course, and yes, diversity training and sexual harassment training as well.

We have too many drivers that learned to drive on a video game. They drive with their eyes on the end of the hood, no perception of their soundings. They can't feel the G forces of the vehicle and know how to react to them.
