Good afternoon all:

I have a 2024 XLT Hybrid that I tow behind my motor home. I am having an issue wi my Patriot II braking system locking up. Newer Patriots have a hybrid mode. Their answer to me is basically turn everything to Force 1 and only use in case of a breakaway. That certainly doesn’t make sense to me.

I then looked at Roadmaster Even Brake. They have a warning that states notto use there brake if you have an “active or continuous power assist braking system”. They say that they are still active even though the ignition is off when towing.

I live in an RV desert so adding an air line in time for my next trip might be impossible

Can anyone help me here. I know a lot of you tow your hybrid.

thanks

I have always used a 20 yr old Brake Buddy Classic. I normally drive in a manner that never needs it's help, except 1. To be legal and 2. In case of a breakaway.

I set the sensitivity to "2" out of "7" and my last trip I had the pressure set to 30PSI. I do have an alert system with it, so I get to see the light come on if it gets activated.

That said, I just finished a 2725 mile trip and about 600 miles before the trip ended, I was struggling with idiotically fast traffic signals and huge intersections in Elko, NV. I had to hit the brakes harder than usual and the Maverick PLANTED itself. I'm towing with an 11,000 lb GVWR small Class C.
I learned that my Brake Buddy indeed worked, and that I had been braking slowly enough not to actually activate it.
Since then, my plan is to try to lower the PSI on the BB as low as I can go (maybe 5 PSI?) and still meet my 2 needs. The active braking is indeed strong.

I had the same problem with my Demco Stay in Play Duo. It uses a air cylinder to apply the brakes. I had to buy a air pressure regulator and set it at 15 PSI, instead of the standard 60 PSI.

I have read of others who left enough slack in the cable, that it can only lightly pull on the pedal

I'm considering installing the Stay-In-Play Duo as I found a preowned unit for cheap. That being said, are you satisfied with the Stay-in-play install on your Maverick, and are you able to brake without locking up the Maverick tires...Also, are you confident it will stop in a panic-emergency stop?
