Does installing a lift kit void the warranty and do they add more stress to the CV joints?

1. It's not possible to invalidate an entire vehicle warranty due to mods. But yes, technically messing with the suspension would not cover issues if they were to pop up there. Some dealers don't care and will ignore the lifts.

2. Yes.

It will void the warranty on your suspension. CV axles are very weak on Mavericks to begin with. I put a 2 inch rough country strut kit on my FX4. The CV axles started to go bad within a couple thousand miles. Even if you find a dealer that will ignore your lift and do the warranty work, Ford will stop approving the warranty work if it keeps happening. Unfortunately there is no aftermarket beefier CV axles to buy that would be a good permanent replacement. I ended up trading in my XLT FX4 for a Lariat Tremor and swapped over my 245/65/R17 Baja Boss ATs. I loved the lifted FX4, but I think it will save me a lot of headaches going forward.

Lift is known to hurt MPG and raise the center of gravity (increasing rollover) for those contemplating it. Also, since your axle stays the same UNLESS you go to a larger tire, it does little for road clearance. Not to say "don't do it", just mentioning the factors to consider along with drive shaft angle eating the CV joints. I think a smaller battery and electric rear axle would be a great add on to many trucks - just enough to get you unstuck in the snow or sand, or pull a little hill. Get to work on that, and send royalties, wouldja?

I have a tremor with about 4 1/2” of lift on 32” mud terrains , about 4000 miles with lift stuff and tires in place . All is well .
will give updates .
Only issues is exhaust melting rear bumper cover ( got bent off roading), they replaced it , then I immediately cut the lower 4 “ off it.and now camera fault / anti collision error ( in at dealer today).probably vibrated connector loose .washboard roads seem to screw with all the foo foo stuff and sensors.

The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act changed law so that the manufacturer must prove that any alteration was the cause of any failure. It is your truck to do with as you please but also at your own peril.

No, no, no. This is repeated ad nauseum, it is totally wrong. Magnuson Moss protects you if you use non OEM parts...oil filters, air filters, oil, brakes etc. The purpose of the law is you cannot be forced to use OEM parts to keep warranty coverage, nor can you be forced to have service performed at the dealer.

It does NOTHING regarding aftermarket modifications. The dealer and/or Ford corporate can deny warranty claims on any vehicle system affected by aftermarket modifications at their sole discretion. Lift kits and big heavy wheels and tires? Kiss suspension and drivetrain coverage goodbye.

The dealer and/or Ford corporate can deny warranty claims on any vehicle system affected by aftermarket modifications at their sole discretion. That’s what I said. They have to prove any failure of OEM parts was caused by the alteration. Of course the AM part would not be covered and as you suggested, Ford would likely deny the claim and put the onus on the owner to prove the alteration had not been the proximate causation.

No, they do NOT have to prove the OEM part failure was caused by the modification. Lift the truck and the OEM CV joint fails? They do not have to prove anything to deny warranty coverage for the CV joint. This is not what you said or implied.

I was thinking about it once and decided....nope...not with all the CV issues on the Maverick and past Escape issues. The fact that the Tremor has different shafts should be an indicator that these are not rugged CV shafts and overloading (angling) them may be too stressful for them to last. I have an extended warranty so I don't want any chance of them denying future claims.

Axle might stay the same but a lift raises the ridiculously low front bumper/valance portion of the truck, undercarriage felt, skid plates etc- There are a number of simple desert campgrounds that will cause havoc with stock mavericks but do what you need to do. I am pretty happy with the 1.5 Inch HR lift springs- Can access our back alley now without a belly rub. I do get the concern with the axles however.

Read this please. It specifically talks about the aftermarket parts aspect.

If you have found some other source of information which contradicts this, please share your source.

There is way too much speculation and misinformation on this topic. Speaking authoritatively is not the same as being an authority. Provide sources.
