I'm really impressed that they figured out a way to make me hate the front end of it even more than I did before.

Oh, in that it went connected on screens? Yeah I was surprised I thought Ford was keeping the divorced screens design language. Here's the new Explorer, since the Maverick is a truck if they do an interior refresh it might get a new dash layout more like this with a little shelf deal below the HVAC:

I do like this layout, but not sure they will change up the dash that much for a mid-cycle refresh. The Escape just changed 1 dash piece to go to the bigger screen. The Mav is already prep’d for the larger screen, just lose the cubby; so a 1 piece change. The spy photos seem to indicate the portrait screen (like Ranger) but I just can’t see them redesigning the dash that much mid-cycle.
All of this is my $0.02, I have no inside info.

Typically, yeah, refreshes are just new bumpers, grills, wheels, and infotainment keeping everything else the same, but SC is getting an all new dash in its refresh so who knows.

The 2024 Trailblazer also got an all new dash for its mid-cycle refresh.

Lipstick on a pig. Change the lipstick, it's still on a sow.
Manufacturers . . . here's a hint . . . change the sow, leave the lipstick alone. OR, better yet, IMPROVE the sow.

I like the updates... especially the interior and the less shiny black. I have always liked the SC overall look and actually better than the Maverick. I bought the Maverick though because of the hybrid and slightly roomier feeling and at one point it was less expensive.

Had the SC had a hybrid it would have been given a lot more consideration and would have been a harder decision for me.

The Santa Cruz is a genuine Rorschach test. Amazing how differently people respond to it. To some it's just a Maverick in different clothing. To others it is Satan incarnate. No right or wrong there, just always interesting how people respond differently to something.

Also I think it's one of those vehicles that looks way better in person than in photographs.

Will they add some leg room? How did the extra 3" Maverick length turn into a 6" longer bed and so much more leg room than the Santa Cruz?

Dr Who technology, its bigger on the inside. Not sure really, they look so similar superimposed:

A quick google foo says Mav is 42.8 leg front, 36.9 leg rear = 79.7" and SC is 41.4 leg front, 36.5 leg rear = 77.9" so 1.8" difference, and Mav is a 4" longer vehicle. I think bed length on SC is confusing because the bed is diagonal on the back, so its shorter up top than on the bottom, confusing measurements, as they put some lean-back on the rear seats and cut into bed space for that.

Yeah turbo for turbo, the SC has a dual-clutch transmission, and I've heard there have been issues, so reliability win for Mav there.

Hybrid vs base 2.5 SC, the Mav hybrid wins by a landslide because its about the same power but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more efficient! The SC and Tucson share a basic platform, so no idea why they don't offer their hybrid, its quite powerful on the Tucson.

FWIW, it's now official that the 2025 SC will be shown at the NY International Auto Show. Kind of hoping the new Maverick is there too, but Ford has only been vaguely hinting at something new.

It still looks like a reincarnation of a Suburu Brat to me. I don't like it very well. I prefer a truck to look like a truck. But that's just my opinion. Yours may vary. BTW Is this Hyundai another easy to steal vehicle?
It is easy to steal with a tow truck. Same as a Maverick.

March 27 is the reveal date.
When will 2025 Maverick refresh be unveiled?

Column shifter is welcome change. I'm not a fan of rotary on Maverick.
Without a hybrid the Santa Cruz is not even close to catching up to Maverick.

That is something I had heard also about the transmission problems. At the time I had been looking I had not really been able to find a decent deal on a Maverick (still $2500-5K over sticker) so I had been looking at a few Kia products and one had the dual clutch and so it was easily out of the running.

Hyundai will do a live show and tell about vehicles on their website from time to time and one time I stopped in and they were doing the SC so I asked about a possible hybrid and they said there were no plans to add hybrid to it. I stuck around for about 20 minutes watching and funny thing was 2 other people came in after me and asked about a hybrid option also.
