Strong electrical burning smell from vents.

I’ve been experiencing a strong electrical burning smell from my 2022 Maverick XLT. I notice it after turning on the A/C and driving a bit. Has anyone else experienced this smell and is there any remedy? My truck goes into the dealer Tuesday for the airbag recall for a few days. Was going to mention it to them as well.

Interesting, because for the first time in 9 months, I had this same symptom today. It lasted about an hour and vanished. It was faint but definitely there. I will monitor, and definitely pop the hood to take a look. Ecoboost with 12,000 miles.

I started realizing it around 18,000 miles. It comes and goes. Only with AC it seems. Not a good smell. Hopefully nothing major.

I'm getting that smell as well without any AC on. It came right after I took my truck in for the fire engine recall service, am oil change and a replacement of a part that was allowing the oil to trickle out.

I'm thinking it's due to a new part having to wear in. It's definitely gotten less noticeable as I've driven the truck more.

I get that smell also,not real strong though. Also my touch screen is very hot to touch. Not sure if they are related.

Hmm I’ll have to check and see if my screen is hot as well. I wonder where the smell is coming from?

Mine is currently at the dealership for the air bag recall and I did mention the smell to the technician to check out.

I get a smell when my AC is cycling. It is just a musty old sock smell and when the AC stays on for a while the smell goes away. It definitely is not a pleasant smell.

If you're sure it's electrical burning, that would be an immediate dealership trip for me. Don't want a burned out truck I can't replace

Just remember, if you smell burning OR have oil gushing on top of the engine, all you have to do is keep driving before it burns!

I expereinced the same plastic burning smell this past weekend. Was driving slowly (~28mph according to my dashcam) up a moderate steep hill, by the time it reached the top there was burning smell coming from the AC vents, primarily passenger side vent. Pulled over and popped the hood, by then there were some residual smell in the engine bay but not super noticeable.

Visual inspection didnt yeld anything abnormal, EXCEPT the on the passenger side the AC? line next to the coolant reservoir seems to have a slow leak/seeping.

I waited for the truck to cool off and never had that smell since. I'll have to find some time and bring it to the dealer to have it inspected.

Mine was the APIM module. It is slowing cooking inside. Still waiting for the part to come in. Does your sync update ? Mine is stuck on version 22200
