In yet another chapter of Maverick ownership, I've debated (and ordered) both a 2024 Maverick XLT AWD/4K EB AND a 2024 Ford Ranger XL. The 2024 Maverick was built and shipped as of 2/24/24. The 2024 Ranger should be in production, but no updates.
Lately, my gut instinct is telling me to walk away from both and just keep my 2022 Maverick XL-EB. My reasoning behind this is asking myself WHY I'm planning on trading in a perfectly good little truck to get something that will cost me more money (higher payments/much higher interest rate) for the sake of higher towing capacity, when in reality I only need to pull a cargo trailer maybe every couple of months and if it comes right down to it, I also have my husband's F-150 that is more than capable of handling the job if needed.
My payment now is totally comfortable (and laughable - in a good way - in comparison to what many people are paying for car ownership in today's low-wage economy) and I'm on track to have my Maverick paid off early.
I've had zero mechanical issues (knock wood) with my Maverick with the exception of recalls, a few odd glitches, and one flat tire.
For as long as I/we waited on getting this truck, why part ways with it now? I'm able to sock away a second truck payment each month for a future purchase, so when the time does come I'll be prepared.
My Maverick presently is about to turn 28K miles. For a first year/new model vehicle, I really have zero complaints. All of us entered into Maverick ownership knowing we were buying a budget truck, and most of us are pleased with our purchases. I kinda feel like I want to stick it out for the long haul and see how long the Maverick will last getting a respectable 14-17K miles put onto it each year. As I've mentioned before, we're ALL part of a social experiment as owners of 2022 Mavericks. Isn't there some sort of moral obligation we owe to this truck to see how far we can go with it? (As an aside, the Maverick forum is much more fun than the Ranger forum.)
Appreciate your thoughts.
