Sat in one at the car show and for some reason it felt cramped. I expected it to be almost identical to the mav but it was not. Rear seat space seemed worse, too. We had just looked at foresters and they have a ton of rear seat space.
Foresters are nice and roomy. A friend of mine has a 2014 model with barely 20K miles on it.

The Bronco Sport was never an option. I wanted a small truck that could help with homeowner stuff and light hauling while being a decent commuter. If I wanted a Bronco it would be the big boy but what I want is almost impossible to locate.

Daughter has 2022 Bronco Sport Big Bend. I drove it for approximately 6 months before I took delivery of my Maverick. The 3cyl 1.5 has been OK so far. I belong to the Bronco Sport forum and main issue people are having with the 1.5 is premature water pump failure. It is funny what the recall "fix" was for the fuel injector that could crack and leak fuel. They basically installed a drain tube to allow fuel to drain and not pool on top of engine. They also reprogrammed the injector to shut down and display a message on the screen to get it fixed as soon as possible if a problem was detected. I believe it was the #3 cylinder fuel injector that had a bad plastic case that could crack and leak fuel. Power is OK in normal mode. Can't even really drive it in echo mode. Absolutely has no power at all. Rides more like a truck and is a harder ride than the Maverick. It has the updated Sync and makes me really wish they would have made it standard in XLT and above trim levels in the Maverick. Bronco Sport is very capable in the snow and light off roading. The Bronco Sport is a lease and we will see what we do when its up. All that being said, I like my Maverick better...lol.

Yeah my wife got bit hard by the forester bug so we went to the show where she could sit in it without a salesman bugging her. Great visibility, roomy, nice cabin layout. She's in a kia soul right now and likes it but it's getting old.

I'd consider a forester if I was going to get another car. The wilderness editions are really capable vehicles. But now I have the 4 runner bug.

The 4Runner bug is an expensive ailment...on your wallet. Abysmal gas mileage. But yeah, if someone gave me one, I'd be a happy camper. My brother in law had a...I think it was a 2007, maybe 2009 model and he loved it, except he said he should have bought the 6 rather than 8 cylinder version. He traded it in with super-high miles for a Hyundai Santa Fe or some such. Wishes he had his 4Runner back.

They have been the same since 2010 with minor refreshes. I don't care about the mileage. 2025 will be the first truly new one in 15 years and I wanna get a 24 since they are known to be rock solid and reliable. Unfortunately my wife needs a new car before I do. :(

Can't complain since I just got my mav about a year ago.

Its interesting because my wife likes the Bronco Sport better than the Maverick. Prior to the Maverick we had a 2015 Grand Cherokee and I wanted to get back into a pickup and the utility of the truck bed. We currently have a 2019 Expedition Max so I didn't need another SUV.

I am completely happy with my decision, I can take the trash to the end of the driveway, cardboard to recycling, etc. Put wet items of the kids in the truck bed without it smelling up the SUV.

The really funny thing is if we didn't get the Maverick I was going to get an F-350 Tremor but the wait on it was too long so we opted to buy out the lease on our Expedition.
Yeah, it's good having a unconnected bed for transporting captured raccoons. Wouldn't do that in my SUV. Pretty angry, if they got free...............

So I debated back and forth. I have body on frame trucks and the Mav was basically to have a car like vehicle with better fuel economy and more suited for dd stuff like groceries, kids etc

Side swing tailgate would make it more functional for me. As is kids can’t grab their stuff from bed without help. Plus the Bronco Sport storage area is more secure.

this thing feels like a car with a bed which I guess is what I signed up for.
I regret that the Bronco Sport wheels aren't available on the Maverick.

Drove a rental Bronco Sport while the Maverick was in recall land and I honestly liked it. Rode rougher than the Maverick as expected, but had good power and having the driver controls almost exactly the same was a plus. I can see the Bronco as a dual purpose family and adventure vehicle

Hell naw.

The OJ Bronco lariats... Yes. Those are amazing. Not these basically Jeeps though.

I'd much prefer a crossover type like the Escape, Rav-4, or a Subaru over these gaudy SUV's. Honestly if I wanted an off road SUV, I'd get a 4Runner but I even view those the same way as the Broncos.

Just my opinion though.

Wow, I didn't know both the escape and edge were on the chopping block. I can understand the edge since it's virtually indistinguishable from an explorer. The escape used to be a pretty decent mid sized SUV. But IMO the last year they looked good was 2012.

The bronco sport needs to be a bit bigger. It just didn't feel practical.
I'd heard they were axing the Escape but never really thought much about it until I saw one in the dealership showroom and actually liked it, Ford did a fantastic job with the front end refresh. Plus you can get the hybrid with AWD which IS more than a little tempting, but I want a truck and the Escape is pretty small, much like the Bronco Sport, they both feel a little claustrophobic for my liking.

I got both.
Frankly? Best of both worlds for what they do. The Hybrid vs 1.5 engines is night and day different in power, but they handle and drive very much the same. The longer track of the Mav has its advantages, but the BS is more nimble mind you in tight quarters and a better off roader with the shorter wheelbase.
Honestly, both are the C2 platform and are VERY similar vehicles in more ways than most realize.
Aside from different engine options, it really kinda boils down to is do you want a hatch or a truck bed behind you?
