Sitting a dealership with leak

Had my 24 Eco in at dealership about a week or so ago for first oil change.

Noticed last night some leak from the front side... I think an oil leak.

Brought back to dealership this morning and they said they would need me to leave it for 4 days to check it out.

After complaining, a service manager agreed to get it in and take a look. Hoping it's something simple.

With more people on here getting their Mavericks, wish there was some place to get a list of good service departments.

Said they didn't clean something around the oil filter when they changed the oil. I asked about the oil filter seal and he said that was fine, there are no leaks.

Too many little spots of the driveway for it to be something they didn't clean.

We will see...

The one thing this forum has shown me is a whole bunch of ford dealership are complete trash for service. Makes me feel lucky with the one I've been using.

Do you not have the splash guard under there? There should not be anywhere for "little spots" of oil to be dripping onto your driveway to begin with. They should be caught on the top side of the splash guard......

I do have an FX4 and skid plate but still had oil on drive way. I can feel some oil on the skid plate...

It seems to be closer to the front bumper, near the oil filter. I think the skid plate covers up the oil filter...not too sure.

I put a card board box under to see if the drip continues after bringing it home from the dealership.

Haven't run into a good dealership here in ne Orlando yet . last oil change missing shield bolt afterwards . then they want to do airbag recall when they can't even get a oil change right .

since your driveway is spotted throw a piece of card board under there to monitor.
it could be your show and tell if it's still leaking. to show the dealer.

I am sorry to hear so many have had bad experiences with the service department at their local Ford dealership. I will never buy another Ford from my local Ford dealership as long as the current GM is in place. Yet, I have an incredible service advisor and receive exceptional service.

I contend that a dealership's service department sells vehicles more than the sales department. I do consider my experience with service departments and independent mechanics before I consider buying the next vehicle.

Nearly everything my wife and I own can be directly attributed to our confidence that we have a great service advisor or independent shop to have the work done.

4 days. Day 1. Let the truck sit outside. Day 2 and 3. Let the truck sit outside. Day 4, 4:55 pm. Check the truck. Work on it on day 5.

Update on oil leak... and maybe help someone else in the future.

Brought the Maverick home after dealership said there is no leaks and said they cleaned around the oil filter.

I put some cardboard under the truck and ran the motor for a couple of cycles and no oil so far on the cardboard.

I think after watching a couple of videos of watching people change their own oil... I think when the oil change was done at the dealership recently, the technician didn't remove that plate that was right under the oil filter. The oil from the filter ran onto that plate and has been dripping oil on the drive way.

I think that may have been what they cleaned today. The service manager was very vague.

If this turns out to be the case, it sure wasted an entire day of my time dealing with this and still not 100% the issue is solved. On top of that the dealership originally told me I would need to leave it for 4 days before they could look at.

Will have to continue watching for oil drips for a few days. What a waste of time.

I hate to say this, because I am asking for the sky to fall on my head, but my dealership has treated me like a king the 4 times I have been there in 2 years (2 recalls and 2 oil changes). Century Ford, in Mt. Airy, MD. I don't know why I print this, because it isn't going to do any of you folks any good, 'cause who-the-heck is gonna drive to Mt. Airy, Maryland? That said, Century Ford is worth the trip.

RE: "Something simple" - could be as simple as the careless grease monkey assigned to the express oil change stall was careless with the bulk oil dispenser nozzle. You just now noticed what s/he spilled.

That is why I do my own oil changes. I hope my Mav never sees the inside of a Ford dealer. I realize not everyone has space to change their own oil.

Let me take a wild guess. The mechanic at your Ford Dealers cross threaded the oil pan plug! That is so easy to happen when using high torque power tools!

I tend to agree with you on how much a reliable service department can keep customers coming back to a dealership. When I lived in Sacramento there were many Ford dealerships around and I found one to have an outstanding service department and that's the dealership I used for everything. I bought a Subaru and found that in my case, all the different dealerships I used over a 9 year period provided reasonable and trustworthy service. If they made a little pick up like the Maverick, I may not have gone back to Ford.
