Since I have ordered my Maverick XL AWD blue. I have 3 different dealerships that I contacted me saying we have a Maverick someone ordered and would I be interested. Because they don't want it. I wish one would have been closer to what I want but no. I think we are going to see a lot more of people that ordered waited to long and now don't want.

It's an issue even without delays, on ordered vehicles. One most buyers are impulse buyers and after pondering on it change their mind. Another is things come up, lost jobs, moving, pregnancy's, health issues etc.. to name a few. Regarding the Maverick it's a win win situation for a dealership. They can't get them fast enough. Yes they are calling orders one as a courtesy more for selling two for one. They sell the one they have in stock and they sell the one on order. Both sales help the dealership both financially but also increasing allocation. The more they sell the more they are allocated, it's a win win situation. Unless they sit for months but that's not even close to what's happening with the Maverick. Read some of the reviews more importantly read some of these threads where they have several Maverick's in the family or others trading or selling their previous Maverick and getting a new model year or one with different options or configurations. It's a problem they are glad to have from a Dealerships view. Well maybe it's not a problem after all?

Not a win for me. More orders means more time for my order and I DO WANT MINE.

Misery wants company, you're not alone. The good is if they can get parts with 3 shifts they should start pushing them out. The biggest issues is the restraints because of lack of parts. Heck even tires on the base xl and XLT trim they were an issue until a few weeks ago. Hoping they get the parts issue resolved, that would help in production immensely. Unfortunately that just in time has issues and flaws. One could look at stocking parts a waste of money because it's just sitting there. In another perception is not having the parts limiting production is a huge cost factor. Every minute of down time is costly and also has a trickle effect on various other issues such as shipping, and more importantly cash flow for the company. Just my opinion.

In any case best of luck with your order.

Agreed.

I ordered my Mav because I needed a new car. Luckily all the dealers had ADM so we had to order to get MSRP.

Well in the 3 months since the order, we're now looking at Accord hybrids for the wife and I'll inherit her OB. I'd love to have a Mav, but I work from home- she commutes.

Since we're already buying something new, makes more sense to get her something that gets twice the MPG over the few times a year I'd use a bed.

We'll know this weekend after driving an Accord if we're not taking our order.

I ordered a XLT in Dec which is produced and in transit now. I've decided not to pick it up though and went with something else last week.

I was really excited to order, but once the excitement wore off that I was finally able to get a Mav, I realized that they're just overpriced now for the features I want. They've increased in price each year while also removing features. What was a great deal when I first started looking, IMO no longer is.

Non-refundable deposit. The solution.
I would estimate many dealers try that approach but many states have laws against that practice. Some states can hold the deposit until the vehicle is sold to offset costs involved. Majority of dealers would not alienate future customers, especially when the majority of the public understands it's not the dealers fault. Unless they did keep their deposit. Besides if it's not scheduled the order can easily be changed or cancelled.

Have Mav ordered at two different dealers but if I don’t get word either order is scheduled by Feb 22 then I’ll end up cancelling. I have GM private offer I have to use by Feb 29 plus GM rewards.

Higher interest rates and inflation is likely costing some out. Some might be ordering but never had the credit to buy. We also don't know many people placed these orders on the expectation of economic growth that never happened.

I myself almost walked once it showed up because Ford was taking too long and the vehicle I was replacing had to be replaced. I wasn't a fan of purchasing two vehicles in a single year.

Non-refundable deposit. The solution.
Likely illegal in some states. My deposit was only "non-refundable" if the truck showed up within six weeks from order and I didn't take it. But even if Ford was spitting out orders quickly, that would never happen. So, it was effectively always refundable.

A good portion of these vehicles were being flipped anyway for 5-10K to Carvana, Vroom, or Car Max. Now that supply has increased flipping isn't a viable option as you still have to purchase the vehicle and pay taxes in some states.

There are almost 100 mavericks on both Carvana and Car Max and Vroom is out of business with prices on the first two 3-5K over MSRP on trucks with 5-10K miles. They don't need any more overpriced Mavericks, so flippers are leaving the market.

Meanwhile I picked up my Maverick after dropping of another car at Carvana locally and they overpaid by at least $5k. In-out, never even looked at the car and handed me a check I deposited ASAP with my phone right there....Completely bizarre, they can't be long for the world either.

This turned out to be a big factor for me. My order has been built, and is currently shipping. But I'm not sure I'll be able to pull the trigger on it when it gets to the dealership. I didn't have to put down a deposit, but my original order was for a my23 Maverick in September of '22. The economy was quite different back then, for the value of my trade, interest rates, and my ability to save up some cash. I do want the vehicle, but the outlook is tough right now, with possibly days left for it to arrive.
