I liked your idea and since I finally get a set of Mabetts, I followed your example. I'm can be a bit of a packrat, so I didn't throw away the rectangles I had to cut out of the bedliner when I added the side cubbies a few months ago. I remember setting the cutout piece aside thinking I might find a use for it someday. :) I also had a box of the plastic rivets that I had purchased after a new teenage driver in our house checked a curb and removed some of the plastic undercarriage on another car (nice to have by the way - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L6FJGR4/)

I like the Mabetts, especially at their price. I know they are trying to stay "no drill", but I felt much better adding some additional plastic rivets toward the inside of the wheel well. Luckily, each area has a nice place to attached it to existing plastic (except for the "Ford hole" on the drivers rear). That one has the additional panel from the bedliner. The others just had one rivet added. Hopefully my picture make sense. In the rear, they sit in the box like recess mud flap. I'm happy with the result.
Nice job 👍

I added a pan head screw on the fronts in the same place you added the plastic rivet.

Other brands also don’t touch the paint, but other forum members would need to provide their own experience. I have only used Mabett. I believe Rockblox was another “no touch” style, as others have mentioned.

I just made and added a wheel well “extension” that I fashioned from an old wheel well liner from a completely different unrelated vehicle. I cut and attached it to 3 “factory” holes with existing fasteners, plus added two more holes into the top lip of the Mabett to lock the new piece in place. The green lines are around the new piece. It’s already dirty and otherwise hard to tell (Minnesota winters and all). It’s held in place via 2 of the metal 7mm mud flap bolts, and by 3 push-in style plastic fasteners. Two of these push pins are what I added via drilling 2 holes into the top of the Mabett (seen in 1st photo).

And I’ll be the first to admit, it’s a challenging area to take a photo of. In the first photo, the camera is under the exhaust tip looking forward. Second photo, the camera is on top the tire looking backwards and down.

I will bet one of those thin cutting boards my wife uses will be easy to cut and easy to install. Drill 2 holes and install a couple of stainless steel nuts, locknuts, and bolts. Size 8 should be big enuf.

Thank you for the idea.

No problem. I just replied to your other thread too. A little bit of creativity is all it needs to address the gap.

It would have been nice if Ford had just made a matching plastic cover for the driver’s side, as compared to the passenger side cover. You have to lay under the truck to see it, but the hard cover attaches to the rear of the passenger rear wheel well and goes all the way back to the bottom lip of the back bumper. Once you see that, you’ll undoubtably have a WTF moment like me and a lot of others too!

Just tried to install Mabetts on my 2024 XL. The holes in the front flaps did not align with the factory fastener locations. Didn't bother trying the rears. Too late I see that another Amazon reviewer had the same issue with his '24. Given the many recommendations here I assume that this was not a problem for '22 or '23 models.

Sorry, no pictures. The upper two holes matched the factory location - the lower hole was several inches off. Same problem each side so I assume that Ford make a change in the '24.

After the Mabetts didn't fit the front (2024 Maverick XL hybrid) I tried the Tuffskinz here - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8DVGYYV?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Same problem - holes didn't align with factory mounting points. They also failed to provide mounting hardware (but that wasn't a problem given the lack of fit). Don't know if anyone currently provides aftermarket fronts that will work on a '24 without modification.

The Maybetts fit perfectly on my '24 Lariat. I at first attempted to mount the wrong flap on the wrong wheel and thought something was wrong also, but quickly figured it out.

I also figured it out quickly - they didn't fit. Here's another recent Amazon reviewer (a confessed Mabett fan) saying the same thing. Perhaps your Lariat differs from my XL hybrid and this reviewer's (unspecified) '24 model.

I like the Weathertechs. They are very durable and long lasting.

there is a WEATHERTECH store right here close to me. I’ve been using their mudflaps on the last couple cars I have had. They do installed right there at the store. I’ve always been happy with their products.

Best? Without a doubt the Gatorbacks. 2nd best would be the RockBlokz especially considering their coverage of the wheel well on the drivers side rear. 3rd I'd have to say the cheaper ones... Not really sure which brand actually takes 3rd there because some rub on the paint in the fender areas and some don't cover the drivers side rear like the RB's do.

But if I had to go back and buy a set, I'd get the Gatorbacks. Cost be damned, they are great. I had a set on my Tacoma previously. You can't beat the flexible rubber, but you will pay for it if you want the quality of flexible rubber.

I'd certainly never buy any brand that molds around the fender, because debris will get stuck in there and it will rub on the paint, accelerating the opposite of what mudflaps/fender flares are supposed to do. There have been numerous reviews of the brands like Weathertech doing just that on these forums.

I currently have the RockBlokz on the Maverick and I've had an issue with the passenger side bottom retainer clip popping out multiple times. Already replaced it once and it's gone again. It just doesn't grab properly for some reason and I can't get in there while the flaps are installed to hold the rear so the clip will seat. So I'm going to mess with it here in a couple weeks and see what I come up with. As for hardware in general though... not the greatest. Cost too. They are just plastic and they are $150! It's made in the US though... so take away from that what you will. And they give you candy when you buy them 🤣

I was skeptical of the plastic hardware too but in retrospect they don't rust up against my steel fenders and are easy enough to remove if they break. I expect they're gentler against the painted surfaces as well. Truth told I'd replace a broken one with another plastic part. That lower push pin is holding fine on mine but if it doesn't I'll go with one of these. They're called fender retainers or something like that.

Another complaint about RBs is rusting screws, mine have been on since last Oct and no rust.
Those turkeys at my marina just put down some fresh limestone  so I had to hit it with the hose a couple days back to flush some of the white dust. One thing about those felt fender liners, they are quieter when the stones fling out of the tread
