Does the hybrid need engine break in? I have some 160 miles on it. It drives okay but I'd expect it to be smoother and less noisy!!
thanks.

Avoid hi speed, heavy braking, aggressive shifts and towing. May get some unusual characteristics. The recent extreme cold could do it too!

I interpreted it to apply to the hybrid as well. So, I made sure I stuck to it. I did no interestate driving for the first 1,000 miles. On longer drives I took back road highways that forced me to stay at 60 MPH or under and of course forced varying speeds because of hills and curves. I figured it was a minor inconvenience to do everything I could to ensure the best chance for no problems with the drivetrain.

I plan to do same. But, a ecoboost 1000 miles can be 500 on hybrid.

It's generally the same for all new vehicles. Most driving is done well below 3k RPM anyways and essentially "efficient". So just take it easy and drive normally. Don't floor it, don't drive aggressive etc etc. Lots of folks opt for a very early oil change to get the break in fluids out of there as well as any small particles. Up to you. Personally I do my first somewhere between 500 and 1500. Just depends on the driving frequency. Lots of variables across different vehicles and conditions.

As long as your aren't racing around in it or towing near max, you'll be fine.

Mine is smooth but noticed there's more engine and exhaust noise during our recent cold snap. Someone more scientific than me can explain why these sounds are more noticeable in the winter.

During the summer most passengers riding in my Mav don't even notice the gas engine turning on/off when going down the road.

OK, I attribute noise to cold weather. And I plan to do oil change myself b/w 1500 and 2000.
Already got Mobil 1 Hybrid full syn oil. I guess the best filter is motorcraft 910s. Does s stand for small?

Roughly 3k miles on my hybrid and it has mostly been quite. Only time it has been noisy for me is occationally when I stop at a stop-light and the engine kicks on really loud for some reason (most of the time when the engine kicks on you can barely hear it). It is noisy and there is a little shake for about 1 minute until the engine kicks off or the light turns green. This seems to primarily happen when it is cold out-side (less than 40 degrees) and after I have been driving for about 3-5 minutes. Happens maybe once ever 30-40 drives and is not AC related. My guess is the engine kicks on to heat the battery. Just not sure why most of the time it is really quite and the occational time it is fairly loud (kind of like the difference of the engine idling at 10% vs running at 80%).

Pretty much been zero break-in for my Maverick. I drive like an old granny and don't think I have ever had it above 70MPH. Gas mileage at mile 2500 is no different than it was at mile 100. I get around 38 MPG when traveling on Texas back-roads at 60-65mph and around 41.5 MPG when I am mostly just taking my kids to school (12 mile round trip averaging about 35 mph).

There's a thread on here talks about it. Supposedly the "S" is for synthetic oil. The "S" filter uses a silicone drain back valve that does not deteriorate with synthetic oil.
Edit: search 910-s oil filter

I put my first 1k in Honolul, can’t wait to get it out on a REAL interstate in our new place in Rio Rancho, NM (yes,we have an interstate that doesn’t go between states 😂on Oahu)
